how do you meditate

hey all,

so i've heard a lot of ppl talk about the benefits of meditating. Meditating sounds super abstract -- i honestly don't even know what it means, what i should do. is it just you close your eyes and empty your mind? do you think about anything?

i found that I sometimes lose focus in LR. whether it's reading the stimulus and reading the same darn sentence like 3x or other inefficient/unfocused stuff where i lose time. sometimes my thoughts also just wander.

i recently tried just closing my eyes for like 5 minutes before i started an LR section. i thought in my head just my general strategy, and tried to visualize it. it kinda helped once i stated my LR section.

anyway,

any advice/comments on meditating for LSAT focus would be appreciated.

thank you!

I've been practicing with a watch so I can track my time. I don't wear the watch---instead, I lay it on my desktop. Am I allowed to do that on test day? In other words, can I just keep it on my desk and not wear it? Or do I have to actually wear the watch since we're only allowed to have pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, and highlighter on our desk?

Hello people! I took the June diagnostic LSAT and scored a 157 with absolutely no prep and haven been out of the standardized test game for about 4 years. I'm wondering if I start now will I be able to break 170s by the November test or if that is an unrealistic goal because my parents are pressuring me to apply for the next school year instead of taking time off. I felt while taking the LSAT that some of my problems were that I was just out of practice when it came to reading comprehension and reading things quickly with timing, etc. which could just be because I haven't had to do it since high school and that could be helped by just doing more practice and others were of course things like logic games which I have not seen before but didn't find to be absolutely unbearable (i actually find them very fun). Is this a completely unrealistic goal?

So...

In case anyone would appreciate some nerve-soothing distraction...

My 4-year-old nephew asked me what I'm studying for, so I tried to think of a way to break it down for him. He's got a 2-year-old sister, so I said, "Let's say you and Ava are going to play on the swings. Ava goes second. Who goes first?"

His brow furrowed and then he broke out in a huge grin. "Me!"

But then he gave me a weird look. I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm stupid for having to study stuff like that.

burnout 3 days before test

i'm beginning to feel extremely discouraged and unmotivated just a few days before the test. starting to feel like regardless of what i do/how hard i try in terms of studying and preparation that it just isn't enough. i know this is a terrible mindset to have going into the test, but i'm having a hard time feeling/thinking otherwise. any advice?

applying in nov vs. sep

given that there is only a november (and not a december) test this year, would it hurt me to take the november lsat instead and apply then rather than taking the september and applying very soon? I'm a reapplicant and I ended up applying after my lsat score came out last year and it hurt me a little bit :|

Test-Taking Strategies

Ted-Ed just came out with a timely video for test takers:

It talks about the importance of forming good habits, how stress affects test day, how to counter the stress of test day, and more. Check it out, and hope it helps you.

Even with about six or seven correct in logic games, I'm still around a 158. I am cramming like never before and reading every rule, doing every game from the pretests, watching explanation videos and fool proofing. As far as I'm concerned, my Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension strategies are to the point where I feel great (-3 to -6) but Logic Games cramming will hopefully get me that 160+. My diagramming is usually right, I am just working on inferences and possible worlds strategies that will hopefully help answer questions quicker and more effectively. 7Sage, you have been the absolute best. Not all force users study with 7Sage but...... Good luck to all taking the test as well!

Hey everyone,

I work full-time, so my plan was to take 2 PT’s this Sunday and Monday.

My question is would it be best to just take 1 PT on Monday or go back to back PT’s Sunday and Monday? I know it may be unwise to take another PT without completing BR, but the only reason id do this is because I wouldn’t have time to take another PT during the week since I work.

My goal is a 155 on game day .

Last 5 PT’s: 150, 151, 153, 156, 152

I've been studying on 7sage for the past 10 months, but I've been studying for the LSAT since July 2014, you read that right. Not until I started with 7sage, I started to improve and analyse my data better. I've average low 160 after months studying with 7sage, but before that I was in the mid-150. Today was the first time I EVER scored above 170 on a PT. I didn't take a PT since mid-June. Still studying by taking sections and BR . But since I decided to take the November. I figured I should take a PT, I was really nervous. I went to my November testing site. Took the PT, ask a friend to score it, so I can still Blind Review it. He tells me I got 172. I could not believe it. It became so real for me. I can in fact score above 170. I know it's only one test, but I actually achieve my goal. Now I got to maintain this and take it to the next level. Any advice?

Hey everyone. So, I was pumped going into test day today, and was happy with how I was doing...until I realized that I had a bubbling error that messed up my whole section. That being said, I will unfortunately be sitting for the November exam. However, I have a bit of a dilemma, given that I have approximately 7 tests beyond PT 35 at my disposal that I have yet to do. I think that I have solid mastery of the content, as I've been scoring generally in high 160s, low 170s. Nonetheless, without enough practice tests, I think my skills will atrophy. Any advice as to what I should do to prepare for my next LSAT? Are there any good practice tests not produced by LSAC?

Question for 170+ sages?

I have a question for all you sages out there who have scored 170 or higher on an official exam- I know this sort of seems like a stupid question but did you guys read a lot at an early age? I’m just curious as to whether people who score 170+ just tend to read a lot in general. I want to know whether this is a factor that contributes to their elite test taking abilities.

What have you Jedis found to be your own personal best way to mentally prepare/relax the day before the test and to not have any nightmares that consist of conditional statements linked up or JY's voice saying "this should be an easy one"? Any recommendations are gladly appreciated! (I know JY talks about this in winning the psychological battle and I completely agree with his but would like to hear fellow 7Sagers).

Study Plan

Hello everyone,

I am taking the LSAT this Saturday and my PT's have ranged from 158-164. What should my days leading up to the test consist of? Usually -5-7 LR sections -8 RC and -4 or less on games

Hey guys,

The last few weeks I’ve been trying to fool proof the logic games section and I stopped reviewing my lr notes.

I dont know what to do because I literally forgot a lot of stuff. Should I restart the lr section of the cc?

I forgot how to answer a lot of the questions. I’m not sure what to do. And if I do remember how to it’s really rusty.

I work full time I’m not exactly sure how to approach the lr section this time. While continueing to move forward reading comp after the logic games.

Any advise will help.

Thanks guys

How do I get PT A or B

Hey guys,

this might be a dumb question but does anyone know if you can get PT A or B on 7sage? I have the Ultimate+ prep. For some reason, I really can't seem to find the test on 7sage

September Test Advice

150 on the LSAT in June. I've hit a stride lately and have been doing really well. PT'd two weeks ago at 159 and 164 yesterday. The key for me was I increased my RC score and have really strengthened LG. LR varies 2-3 questions each section. How can I translate this PT success to the real deal? I'd be ecstatic with anything above a 157. I was thinking just practicing my RC over the next few days, and going over some of my LR weak points.

I just want to point out a minor flaw in the site which I think could be easily fixed. When reviewing reading comprehension after taking a practice test, the explanation page for the first problem set you select will show which answers you got right and wrong like all explanation pages do. After you click "next", the next problem set won't show your answers, necessitating you to go back and find the link in the BR page within the list of all the questions. All other types of questions show your answers when you scroll through them, which makes it easy. Its not a big deal, but it would make reviewing the tests easier.

LSAT and Depression

I know this isn't the most uplifting topic on here but I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced depression while studying for this test. Studying something for a year, with very little to no tangible affirmation or reward has definitely taken its toll on me. Anyone else experience this?

Hi everyone,

I just want some insight on your experiences from when you first started studying to the current point or even end point which you already took the Lsat and got your score. Did you see a massive improvement from the cold test till now?
