For anyone taking the August exam, what are you guys doing one month before to prep?? I am scoring just little lower then I want on PT but I'm not trying to get caught up in the numbers and just focusing on drilling my weaknesses (RC, some LR).. I just want to see if anyone has any tips or can share what there doing one month before test.

Thank you and best of luck to August test takers!!

Hi Guys,

I am coming back to 7Sage and law school prep after a almost 5 years away, so I am out of the practice studying as well as with the current news about the test. I apologize in advance if this topic has been discussed 8 billion times.

What is replacing the Logic games and when is this happening? Have there been any major changes to this or any other section since the ruling to take the games away permanently?

If anyone has any advice as to what I should focus on, or any areas that are not as helpful anymore, is much appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if someone knowledgeable on topic could provide their thoughts... how significantly do the preptests in the 60s differ from the most recent preptests (85+)?

I am registered for the August LSAT flex and in the last few weeks, I have gone through preptests 60-66 (timed), consistently scoring at or around my score goal....

Basically, I am wondering if you think the scores I have been getting on the 60s would roughly translate to the newer tests.

Thanks,

P

Any ideas on how to take the test in a way that simulates the flex format? It seems like 7Sage doesn't allow you to only take the 3 sections, nor does LawHub. I'm taking it in August and really want to practice with the closest version of the test I can find.

Hey y'all to those who have taken the LSAT flex previously! I am taking the August LSAT, and was wondering about the time slots that you are able to choose from for the Flex. What is the earliest start time and how many slots a day are there? T

hanks in advance!

Okay someone PLEASE help me. So I am planning on taking the November 14th LSAT (just under 4 months from now) but I have heard that it is beneficial to apply early decision to my #1 school if I want a better chance of being accepted. The problem is, the ED application deadline for my school is November 15th.

-Do you think it is wise to apply to a school, just to be considered ED, even before receiving my score? If not, should I plan to take the October LSAT instead? My BR score is right where I want to be but I have yet to get there in the timed PT. OR, should I just plan on taking the November LSAT and apply in December when I get my score? If I do this, will it hurt my chances of admission because it is not considered Early Decision? My schools is not in the T50 so I don't know if that helps me really.

I really need help so I would appreciate any input at all. Thank you guys!!!

Hey fellow 7Sagers,

I'm having some trouble understanding this question.

Here is how I diagrammed it:

CR ----->/LW

SRO---->LW

(and then I diagrammed the last premise)

L (--S--)CR

SRO -----> /L

I hooked them up by taking the contrapositive of the first premise: SRO ------> LW -------> /CR (--S--)/L

But ultimately, I wasn't able to find the right answer. And JY says that we're supposed to disregard the last premise—Some lawyers are not cattle ranchers L(--S--)CR. How am I supposed to know that I should completely ignore this premise and why? This was the sentence that kept me from getting this question right! I need someone to clarify this concept, please!

Cheers!

Hey! I've gotten a lot out of this discussion forum, so I thought I'd do my part and help some peeps out. I made a Logic Games Log to track progress... I have been using this along with a method shared by another 7 Sage user to increase my proficiency on LG.

The Method:

  • Attempt the game using a stopwatch and make note of your time.
  • Watch J.Y. 7 Sage Explanation video, and then make a second attempt at the very same game.
  • On the following day, do the game again (3rd attempt).
  • One week later, do the game (4th attempt).
  • *With each attempt, use this log to track your time, questions missed, and thought process.

    I hope this helps!!!

The vast majority of LR questions turn on your ability to see the gap between premise and conclusion. If you can understand why the premise is good or bad support for the conclusion, the question type becomes trivial and the answer choices fall into your lap. Evaluating an LR stimulus is similar to LG -- do the work up front and you will be rewarded. This post will discuss a way of thinking about arguments that may help you to better evaluate them.

The idea is pretty simple. First, identify the premise and conclusion. Then ask yourself : Just because premise... does conclusion HAVE to be true?

Example: It is a very sunny day outside. JT's ice cream shoppe will be busy.

Just because it is sunny out, does JT's ice cream HAVE to be busy?

    Well probably not...

What if JT's ice cream sells god awful product?

What if JT's is in the middle of a desert and no customers are even close to it?

What if it is sooo sunny out that people are too hot to leave their homes?

This test helps to expose why the premise isn't really great support for the conclusion. This is the first step in LR success. If you can consciously figure out why an argument isn't great, you take active control of the question. This makes you less vulnerable to traps and more likely to pick the credited AC.

It sounds trivial, but LR is as simple as thinking about why premises do or do not support conclusions. The difficulty lies in slowing down, understanding what the words are really saying, and putting the gap in your own terms. Hopefully the "Just Because" framework can help make this easier!

    Hello,

I'm confused as to how this answer is D. I'm torn between C and D. Is C wrong because if you fail the sufficient (don't have the Pterodactyl consume the red algae , the colouration could still be caused by other factors? Whereas D gives more indication that since it lived in an area that was abundant with red algae, that its more likely to have consumed it?

    Hello All!

I am currently studying for the August LSAT date and I am generally scoring in the high 160s with a goal of breaking into the 170s consistently before the exam. Although I am working with a private tutor, I am also looking for someone to BR with, as I have found that having to explain and defend your answer choice to another person on BR is the most valuable form of review. I am looking to BR individual section work (my normal drills are back to back five star RC passages and 15 4-5 star LR question sets) with someone else as well as individual PT's, provided that we are generally taking the same ones (I am currently on test 70, and take two PT's a week). If anyone is interested, just shoot me a PM, and good luck to everyone out there!!!

Hi everyone. I started full-proofing LG in PTS 1-35 and am wondering....

Q1: Is it worth printing out the games I need to continue full-proofing or is it redundant when I can just hop back on laptop, open up my problem sets and re-do games?

Q1a: Is the idea that it is just quicker in general to redo a game and check on my setup/inferences by just flipping over my printed sheet of paper which would have one clean LG and the other side would have the setup?

I dont mind printing, its just taking me a while to print, etc.

Q2: IN ADDITION, how come the games aren't set to print on 1 sheet, each game I print ends up splitting onto 2 pages. Anyone know the remedy for this? #help #admin

    Thanks!

Hey all, I was thinking about airing a PT as I finish up the LR sections of the course as a kind of benchmark to see how I’ve improved so far. Would that be worthwhile or should I just wait and finish the course?

Did anyone else take PTs during the course? And if so do you think it helped?

    Hey 7Sagers,

Just took PT 59 and got a 148. I plan on taking the October LSAT and have a goal of getting at least a 157. What should be my next steps and what insights do you all have on studying, taking tests and BR?

    Hey 7sagers,

Just wanted to post in hopes of encouraging people who are in similar situations as I was.

I took my first diagnostic in April and received a disheartening 149. The score only reinforced my existing notion of the LSAT as a terrifying test that I wasn’t sure I would ever do well in. Although I had heard that the LSAT is a skills-based test, I was afraid that I would never be able to do well on it given the immense time pressure. I’m the type of person to work hard but I tend to be a really slow thinker. Reading posts that said people typically never improve more than 12 points only made me more discouraged.

But what can I do! All I knew was that I had set my mind on going to law school and I had to work harder than most people to get the score I wanted. Today marks the 3rd month of serious LSAT studying and I received a 166 on my fourth PT. Although this is by no means as monumental as breaking the 170 threshold, I just wanted to note the progress and encourage anyone who received a poor diagnostic score to just keeping working hard!

This is my inaugural post lol. Just wanted to share the progress I've made since February. I switched over to 7Sage in April, after a 138 diagnostic a few months earlier. Took PT 71 today and broke 170 for the first time!! So so SOOOO grateful for this program. Hopefully I'll keep the momentum going 'til the August Flex. Good luck to everyone out there :^)!

my diagnostic before the course was 136 and i was ashamed so i deleted it and blocked it out my memory and retook it after the course 6 months later (with lots of breaks) and scored a 145. I wasn't ecstatic about it, but there was definitely improvement so i was ok with it. However, i just took my second ever PT a few days ago (been BRing the past few days) and jumped to a 154 :) im not expecting to go to a T14 Law school and have no interest, but this score will most definitely get me into where i want to go with my current gpa, so im very happy to see im even capable of getting this high of a score!!!

(Ps im horrible at standardized test and decided not a worry about the time because that caused me the most stress during it, and my score jumped 9 points from last PT)

    12

    Hey all,

So yeah long story short, im doing quite terrible on RC. Im averaging about -9ish, on my last PT i got -11 on RC but still finished with a 164 because i did well on the other sections. I really want to tighten my RC up to at least getting something like a -5 average, is that too much to ask for?! For those who are good at RC, or who improved quite a bit, could you offer me some advice?

    11

I took my first ever diagnostic from Khan Academy about a month ago and scored a 152, and recently took a PT and scored 158. I’m enjoying the CC and it’s definitely helped me approach questions better, but I continue to have significant issues with MBT, parallel method and flaw questions. Any suggestions on how I can improve in these? My approach so far has been to practice the hardest questions from the problem sets. I have plenty of time before giving the actual test, but I’m hoping to see my score hit 165 consistently in the coming months. Hadn’t got time to foolproof logic games till now but will be doing that post improving my LR performance.

Suggestions on how to improve in these areas – especially from those who have recorded drastic improvements – are welcome. Help out a fellow Sager!
