Self-study
We're trying to improve our notes and WAJ system. Do you actually review your wrong-answer journal, or is the main value in taking the notes? If you review, how often?
Please tell us how you're using your notes and wrong answer journals, whether on 7Sage or another app!

I think the best option would realistically be an integrated way to look at wrong questions within regular study interfaces. I often completely forget that the WAJ exists tbh
i dont know how to do one in a way that works for me
@lolowoo1 Yeah, I feel like figuring out how to journal requires a curriculum all on its own.
I do try to review it as much as I can on 7sage, but Idk if its me not knowing how but I feel like there should be a separate tab for it that separates it by question type.
The first time I took the test I looked at it constantly and kept it updated. Now that I'm on a more abbreviated study schedule I haven't updated it but I plan to review. It is incredibly helpful
I have a WAJ where it's organized by question type, and even before all my entries for each question type, I have a brief bullet-pointed section under my question type "header" where I keep reminders for myself for the most common mistakes I make for that question type. Just reading over that before a drill or section is really helpful for me. I just keep all of this on a Google Doc and it works for me!
I have one in a specific format that I then feed into notebook llm or any gpt to help me find patterns in the mistakes I am making. It has been pretty helpful because I then know what to target each time.
I used the notes as a WAJ, but found it was too difficult to easily review. I recently decided to make a running google sheet as an alternative WAJ where I categorize all my wrong answers and can sort them more effectively to see my mistake patterns. Having the option to keep notes in 7sage has been a HUGE jumping off point for my new WAJ, though, because I was able to leave notes about why exactly I made a certain mistake in real time.
I just use the notes as a WAJ. Early on, I would throw my notes into ChatGPT to identify patterns in mistakes I was making. Since my recent score have been closer to my goal, I have stopped doing that.
👋I use it mainly for the exercise.
I think part of the issue is I dont know really how to review them. Review like this is not a normal skill I have developed, I’m not sure how to engage with it really or where to begin.
At times I discuss and look at breakdown from AI
I have a journal like notes app that I use, and I have it sectioned off for LR and RC. I almost never review my RC wrong answers since it usually requires rereading the passage to go over a single question and my time is very limited. I used the study plan and when it asked me to review my wrong answer journal I usually would.
I currently use a google sheet for a WAJ, would love a similar feature on 7sage that allows me to deep link questions and has accelerators to add these questions and analytics built in
I review the day after the drill but I do not refer to it any other time.
I would really like an option to "add question to WAJ" once a question is answered. I know we can take notes on questions, but being able to create a journal of wrong questions or suspicious correct questions, a journal with the ability to remove/add questions over time, would allow for critical review.
I think the main value for me is in the note taking process and seeing the patterns that come up, but it's helpful to have if I need to review or if I get a tutor, as they can review it for patterns in my errors too.
I would use the notes feature on here more often if I could access all the notes in a single tab (like a Notes page under Analytics or something) instead of them embedded in the question only. For now I use a Google Sheets document but it'd be more helpful having the question information right there to see like on here.
I use the notes for a WAJ, but would love if there was a way to review the notes all together, rather than only on the question itself. If someone is using only 7Sage, then the WAJ in the notes of each question doesn’t facilitate recognizing the patterns of your mistakes across multiple questions. I use an excel spreadsheet for that reason
For me, the main value I derive from taking notes on questions lies in the act of taking the notes. I do not review them, but I do share them in the discussions tab and respond to any comments about them!
I find the lightweight notes tab to be adequate for my study needs, although I can see why other students might want more functionality.
I don't use the feature on here. I have a physical one, but don't really review it. I think the main thing that's good about it is taking notes.
I agree that the WAJ is a little confusing here so I don't use it as much as I like. I just end up drilling questions I get wrong instead of looking at WAJ.
I'm confused how to use the wrong answer journal on here. I use bookmarking extensively and try to write notes for every question I got wrong, and some that I get correct. It helps a lot. I try to review every day. I'd like to be able to read my notes separately, without having to click on a question and then view its respective notes -- I don't know how to do that yet.
I have never looked at my wrong answer journal but I have been reviewing wrong answers by going back to the full list of questions.
I separate my journal into tabs based on the week, so I have one tab for RC and one tab for LR. I review my journal at the end of each week and try to pick out 3-5 reoccurring mistakes to focus on for the upcoming week!
I note nearly all my incorrect answers- but I do not review the journal itself.
i review it before i start another drill just to remind myself where my wrong mistakes are centred mostly. like is it from misreading or not identifying the gap before answering the questions, things like that then review the what i can do better next time. then do the drills
Edit: Apologies if this is not the sort of feedback being requested here. TL;DR: I don’t use my WAJ on 7sage because it is difficult to distinguish WAJ and other notes.
Being able to implement custom tags to notes (in addition to the existing question/stimulus type tags) would be awesome I think. There are certain habits I am trying to break that are not necessarily stimulus or Q-type dependent that I would like to be able to easily review. For example, I struggle with making unwarranted assumptions about ACs. It would be cool to tag those when it happens, so I can review my mistakes across various instances, identify patterns, etc.
Right now I primarily use a 3-subject notebook for notes (supplementing with some notes on 7sage, but only sparsely). 1 section for active problem solving/diagramming. One for WAJ. One for reflection. I prefer this because it is separate but unified in a single notebook. If I could do something like this on 7sage that would be neat because obviously what is actually missing from my notebook is the ability to quickly reference questions.
I don’t review my wrong answer journal, primarily because the process is cumbersome. I used to maintain an Google Sheet (so Excel style) with my entries, but I ended up making so many entries (partially because I would also make an entry if I got the correct answer but took way too long because I was tempted by a trap) that the sheet became very laggy. I switched to maintaining my wrong answer journal here on 7Sage by making private comments, but review of this was also cumbersome because while I can see each of my comments in one place, there aren’t tags or other organizational features that I can assign based on what I wrote in my wrong answer journal entry to gather insights. I did feed one of my most recent wrong answer journal entries to the AI Coach, and found its insight useful.
Another thing that makes wrong answer journal review cumbersome here in 7Sage right now is that I also do a “blind review journal.” I do this for all questions 7Sage suggests I review before seeing the correct answer. I write down anything I was unsure about in the stimulus, my prephrase, and an assessment of each answer choice (including a justification for the correct choice). Since all notes show together as far as I’ve been able to see, these notes show together with the wrong answer journal notes even if I ended up getting the question correct (and I was not unsure about my answer). If the 7Sage team could consider this, that would be great!
Overall, I do find the process of making the wrong answer journal entry useful, even if just to write my process down and make sure I’m applying the methods I think I am when approaching a question.
