Hello everyone! So I was slightly disappointed about my LSAT score today. Although it wasn’t too far off from my average (171), I want to maximize my performance and even try to shoot higher for November (break above 173). My PTs have been a little inconsistent, my range is 168-174. How can I narrow this gap, and what strategies would be most effective to achieve my retake goals? Thank you in advance!

I started studying in August 2020 and ended up taking the August Flex, on the grounds that I'd take advantage of the flex format to practice and better prepare for subsequent tests with less panic associated with first-time LSAT experience, then use the score preview option for first-time takers to cancel (at that time it was uncertain whether future tests would also be flex, hence my decision to test with (1 month of studying).(/p)

I received a 164 on the August Flex and am retaking in Oct./Nov., but now I'm not so sure if I should cancel the August score.

Working under the assumption that I see an improvement in future scores (regardless of validity of such claim) and that my ultimate goal is 170+, is it better to cancel? Below would be two ideal situations (there's also the possibility that I cancel and score lower, but considering only the upside first), but I'm unsure if there is any nuanced difference in the expected return:

(1) first score canceled, second score 164+ score, done with LSAT

(2) first score 164, second score 164+, done with LSAT

So the difference would be having a 164 somewhere on my application in addition to a second score, or simply having one score I'm satisfied with and one shown as canceled.

I'm aware that Law Schools only look at the highest score, but that the more retakes there are, the less credit given by Law Schools to succeeding scores. I was wondering maybe cancelling a score would offset to an extent the impression of multiple retakes/not starting out with a higher score, or maybe this doesn't matter...

Any input would be appreciated! Thank you for your time.

Wanted to share my nightmare Proctor U experience I had on 8/30. I’m curious if this has been happening to other test takers, what action other test takers have taken in these situations, any advice on the matter, etc.

What happened:

  • During the final section of my exam, my proctor left – literally just left our session. This resulted that, in the middle of LG (with only 12 minutes left on the whole exam, mid trying to solve one of the harder games…) I had to wait through a 40-minute delay.
  • I then had to suddenly pick back up where I left off, & try to finish LG after expending considerable energy & stress - on top of the cumulative fatigue from the other 2 test sections - to figure out why my exam had suddenly stopped, a task made even more difficult by unresponsive & incompetent proctors.

And this wasn’t the only incident that took place…

  • Before the exam had even started, I had to sit through an hour delay in start time due to unresponsiveness/incompetence by Proctor U staff. (I can detail this more in the comments if anyone is interested in what happened).
  • As a whole, this is extremely disheartening as I felt I was at my peak preparedness, felt confident on exam day, & these incidents took away much of that confidence & definitely hindered my ability to succeed on the exam. I anxiously await September18th score release…

Has anyone had similar experiences? How did you proceed?

I’m hoping for them to accelerate releasing my score, because if I find out I scored lower than I’d like, I'd asked to be registered for the next exam at no cost due to ProctorU's flop. Open to any & all ideas

    I Want to Quit

So, this is my first time posting on the Forum; I didn't really know where else to turn. I see a lot of people post their highest scores, tips on how to get better, trying to do their best for test day and while I really commend that, I don't know if anyone else feels the way that I do, and I could really use some advice and get out of my own head.

The plan is to take the test in October, and I started studying at the end of May. I'm vastly behind on the 7Sage study schedule, mostly because I've been struggling to find study methods/materials that were effective for me. My diagnostic was a 151, and my highest PT has been 158 (I struggle the most with LG).

At one point, I burned myself out by doing a week of PTs in a row, studying 8-10 hours/day most days. I cried every night at the thought of going to sleep and waking up to do a test, taking meds to force myself to sleep so that I could wake up and start exactly at 8:30AM. I took a two week long break recently, feeling guilty and anxious the whole time as time is running out until the official test day; I latest PT back from that was also a 151. Back to square one.

I realize this may be inappropriate to post on an LSAT prep website, but I want to give up. I would like the guilt and sadness and anxiety to stop, but I also feel guilty about the amount of money I've already sunk into starting this process. The LSAT represents the gateway to a possible future for me, but also one of intense stress added onto present COVID conditions. On one hand, my brain tells me that I'm just being lazy, that I'm making excuses and making myself the victim of my circumstances. On the other, I just don't want to feel like I want to die.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this...but upon hearing the RBG news I actually cried. A symbol of integrity, tenacity, and righteousness for all. I figured since we're all aspiring lawyers, others might be feeling the same way about her.

I read someone else say this on twitter, and found it worth reposting:

"Her rest is earned. It is our turn to fight."

Thanks endlessly to an eternal legend.

Hi! Taking both the October and November tests, and still really struggling with consistency on both RC and LR. I am looking for a tutor within the 7sage community who is willing to work with me at least 2-3 times/ week, starting as soon as possible.

    Let me know!

    Feeling really dumb

I went from a 156 - > 158 - > 157. I have been signed up for October but thinking of withdrawing and going for Nov. or just completely giving up. I've been on a plateau for a year and my biggest issue is games and also test timing, I never have time for the last 5-7 questions. I was scoring higher this last time, but lsat flex proctor didn't know how to start the test for two hours and I thought I would end up missing the exam so I was very anxious. Will law schools take the highest score, how do I even explain this in an addendum, do I take again, will it look awful? I have a lot of questions and feel dejected.

took it september 2nd, called lsac three times lady claims my prompt is there and there are no flags or violations and she contacted someone within the departments that handles it, I'm guessing IT, to see what the issue is. LSAC's email this morning said those that took it before the 10th should be able to see their scores, just sitting here waiting on LSAC. Anyone else experiencing the same or similar thing? talk about frustrating

I just got my August Flex Score- 166! So happy about it and thanks so much to 7sage. However, I scored a 157 in June, should I write an addendum even if schools don't ask? Don't have that much of a reason for the jump other than just being really nervous for the June test and also studying more.

    138-165

I know im not a member of the 170 club but i think a 27 point jump from my diagnostic to my actual LSAT warrants a post! Took a lot of time and work but thanks to everyone on 7 sage and our lord and saviour J.Y ping, i hit my target score! To give back to the community that gave me so much, I'd like to offer some people help with LG and just give advice and study tips on how i achieved my goal! Thanks again everyone and good luck

Hey everyone, I'm not here to make a lengthy post or anything but I just wanted to share that yes, it is possible to improve. I was stuck on this test for so long. Keep pushing and keep a positive attitude. Doing those two things while following J.Y.'s lessons have literally transformed my life. You all can do it!

Hey guys! Was wondering if anyone has any advice for how to approach studying for November. So I got a 168 on the August test, which I know is objectively a fantastic score, but my PT average is around 175ish (and my last few scores were 176, 180, and two 179s). I'm pretty happy with my grasp of everything so I think it's about consistency for me.

I don't feel bad about it because I really can't complain about a 95 percentile score and know I worked hard, but also I knew I would most likely have to take it again and my score expectations were pretty low. I was super anxious on the day - I slept horribly and I didn't even have time to properly finish my RC section (which was my first one), and it was super jarring because I've literally never had issues with time on a standardized test + was thrown off by the LSAT flex format, so I'm expecting to do better just without that first time test anxiety now that I'm more familiar with how it goes!

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how I should think about studying these next 5-6 weeks? I'm thinking fewer practice tests (luckily I saved a bunch of tests in the 70s and 80s) and just drilling a little to stay on top of it, and putting extra effort into digesting why my wrong answers were wrong. I also have a pretty demanding full time job and was stressed about a number of things, and had been trying to squeeze LSAT studying in bits in during the day (since I'm working remotely due to COVID right now still) so I want to make sure I try to study when I'm feeling clear headed and have uninterrupted time rather than in bits and pieces while juggling work.

I also need to focus on reading comprehension but its tough to know how to get down to -0/-1 more consistently when you're already doing pretty well.

Any advice? Any inspirational stories of a huge jump from your first to second test?

    good luck everyone!!!

I took a PT cold and tested at 153 a few months ago and got 167 on August Flex after using Blueprint and 7Sage. I'd like to get into a T14 preferably with scholarship money (or even T20 with full ride). Do you think this score is high enough? I'm 35 years old, have MBA and a decade of professional experience, 3.86 undergrad GPA, non URM (Asian).

Hi all, wanted to seek some last minute advice before going into the October Flex. I've been fluctuating a lot lately and wanted to know from others who have experienced the same thing---what is your advice for performing your best on test day, and stabilizing your scores? Feeling demoralized after scoring a 166 today, after my first 180 a couple of days ago. My last 8 PTs, in order, have been:

    175

    176

    171

    171

    167

    169

    180

    166

I take 3 PTs a week, I know this is on the high side but the exam is really soon and I want to get exposed to as many questions as possible. Thanks in advance!

Also more of a general question, on the real Flex RC section, are there line numbers? I took a PT from the LSAC Lawhub website today and there were no line numbers which really threw me off.

    Oct 2020 LSAT Flex

So I am signed up for the oct LSAT but honestly might want to wait until November to take it. I saw on their website that you can opt for a voucher that is good for any lsats from nov 2020- april 2021. Does anyone know how to notify the LSAT to let them know that you want the voucher?

    feeling defeated.

hi all. i just saw my august score and to say i'm disappointed is an understatement. i've been studying full-time since april and my score was lower than any of my prep tests. it wasn't even that far off from my diagnostic.

i think what i'm most upset about is that i've spent so much time and money preparing and i feel like it's gotten me nowhere. i have no excuses for why my score was so low, especially since it wasn't my first time taking the test AND i had a good feeling about it after. i need at least 8 points higher to be considered at my law school choices, especially since my GPA is so low.

clearly i need to reevaluate my studying habits but i'm so beside myself i can't really think straight now. i'm just overwhelmed by how much i probably need to change up, defeated by the lack of progress and really anxious about whether or not i'll even be able to apply this cycle. i was signed up for october but i'm pushing it back to november now. i'd appreciate any advice/words of motivation.

Writing this for myself but hopefully someone else finds solace in this as well..

Got my results back this morning and was quite disappointed in the results. Scored a 166, which is the same score I received on the official take in May.

I’m so much better at this test than I was in May (PT average at the time was 166). I have improved, but frankly it sucks that this isn’t reflected in my official score. My PT average is exactly170 right now and I haven’t scored below a 168 in more than 5 months on a PT. My BR is consistently 176+ (and trending upwards) and if I can better my process even more, there are probably a couple of additional points I can add to my timed results.

Something happened in LR where I was just off my game and because that was the first section I could feel myself more distracted in RC. Based on the PowerScore prediction, I had the hardest compilation of sections and that might have affected my confidence too.

Either way, I’m ready for October. November too, if need be.

    “So what, now what?”

So I took the July Flex, got a 164. I only used the Khan Academy course. I signed up for October Flex, did CC, have been doing PT's (one a day), and am averaging ~172 (with a few 178s thrown in!) What would people recommend I do in the final two weeks before the test? I'm planning to use analytics to decide which LR Question Types to review, but would appreciate any other advice folks have!

    Writing Sample Results?

Has anyone who took their LSAT writing results on September 3rd or later gotten their writing sample accepted? Worried at this point that my session has been flagged which is entirely possible because I had my backpack in the corner of my room which apparently triggers their system.

Hoping it goes through before the 18th so I can get my results back for August...
