Employment summary and biglaw

Hello,

As many of you know, on every employment summary sheet from each law school breaks down the law firm category into 8 subcategories: solo, 2-10, etc.... I used to think that only 501+ firms were considered biglaw but turns out I was kind of wrong? One of my closest friends has recently moved from a 501+ firm to a 251-500+ firm and her salary is exactly the same according to her. So my question what is the bottom line? If 251-500+ firms offer pretty much the same benefits, do 101-250+ firms count as biglaw too? When we see those biglaw percentages from law schools, do they only include 501+ firm stats?

It seems like 7Sage deleted the web versions of prep tests this week... Instead, we only have encrypted PDF version of preptests.

It took me seconds to print a preptest in balck and white before. Now it takes 15 miniutes to print 3 pages in balck and white!

The size of PDFs is too big for printers to handle.

Could you please advise me what should I do? Thank you in advance.

Hello! I am hoping to get some feedback from people who are far along in a 7Sage paid course or already completed the LSAT. For those with higher diagnostics, did 7Sage still substantially help improve your score? Or is the curriculum more helpful for those beginning with lower diagnostics?

Additionally, did anyone take an in-person course in addition to a 7Sage course, and did you feel this was beneficial or not? Why?

I look forward to hearing back from this community. Thank you!

Hey there!

So, thanks to our wonderful community, I read the trainer and it has definitely helped! Here's my question: The trainer wants us to find the flaw in all the "subjective" questions (the ones we need to evaluate). But I'm still a little unclear on what it wants us to do after we've found the flaw for some of the question types.

For example, I've realized that for strength questions, what I want to do is find the flaw, and then look for the answer that makes that flaw less likely to be problematic. So if the flaw says that this one factor is a determining factor in whether or not the conclusion obtains, then I need to find the answer that makes that more likely.

But I figured that out after a lot of trial and error. And I'm not clear on what, for example, I need to do with a necessary assumption question once I see the flaw.

Help?

LSAT Trainer worth it?

Is it pointless to purchase the LSAT Trainer if you already have ultimate+ and access to all the drilling material 7Sage has to offer? I'm retaking this year and one aspect of my studies I want to change is focusing more on drills.

Analytics Problem

Hey 7sage,

Did y'all change the way the Analytics page works or something? I put in my answers for PT 20 LR S1 and when I hit ENTER, I can't see the answers I put of my BR answers anymore. It doesn't show them. Is it just my computer? Or it's just PT20? What's up?

Thanks!

Hi all,

Happy New Year! I wanted to thank JY, David and everyone at 7Sage and the community for all you do. For everyone having difficulty with lack of motivation and feeling like you want to give up, remember you're not the only one struggling. The LSAT is half of the battle but it sure can be achieved with commitment, determination and perseverance. Everyday we all have a choice to be and do better so push yourself to study hard and focus on the vision you have of yourself no matter what.

“We must dare to be great, and we must realize that greatness is the fruit of toil and sacrifice and high courage.”

-Theodore Roosevelt

Have a great day,

Full Time Study Schedule

Hi all, apologies if someone else has asked a similar Q (if so, could someone link me to it? Thanks!), would love sage advice from old and new timers here!

Starting this week I will be studying for the LSAT full-time all the way to writing either the June or July LSAT. Any thoughts on building a schedule for this time?

Relevant details:

I'm not working

I workout in the evenings (1 hr)

Ideal score: 165 (unsure if relevant)

Currently using free account (on the Introduction to Arguments lessons - 'premise and conclusion') and hope to sign up for the LSAT Starter when I get to Grammar lessons since here is where the locked lessons begin!

Advice on purchasing the right course would be appreciated too! My goal is to build a strong foundation. I have almost all of the PTs (aside from those done in the last year?)

Thanks all!

3 Month Study Plan

Hi everyone, first time posting - thanks for reading. I’m looking for some advice and suggestions on the upcoming exams & my study plans.

I have gone through the Manhattan Prep course and taken the LSAT twice (Dec '17/Sept '18 with same exact score). I feel that I understand the fundamentals and am familiar with question types/traps/tricks, but nevertheless keep losing points. I want to take the March 2019 LSAT (to apply in the fall), but I am not sure whether I can break into 170s. After my MP CC (around 3 months) I burned out and postponed my exam. After recovery, later on I only studied (reread CC & reviewed PTs) and took PTs regularly about 1 month to 1 1/2 months before the exams because of interruptions in my life. My sole improvement from the Dec to Sept exam was my timing (something I still need to keep working on).

After going through the discussions and listening to the podcasts, I've decided to take two PTs per week, BR (which I hadn't done correctly or consistently previously), and drill (including fool-proof LG method). I plan to study around 43 hours a week.

I am semi-consider taking the June exam, except I have a sibling graduation (out of state) the weekend of May 31st, and I fear burning out, slacking off, or losing sanity from stress studying for those months leading up.

Any help, suggestions, or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

June 2007 LSAT

I'm taking the January LSAT and it was suggested to me I do a couple of practice tests in the morning (8:30AM when the actual LSAT starts) to get as realistic of an experience possible before the actual exam. Today I took the June 2007 exam to get a feel for it, and my score tanked from my average (162) to a 156. So I'm kind of freaking out.

LR was fine, and pretty much how I usually score. My average is -4 and in the two sections, I scored -2 and -5.

My LG was a complete disaster. My average is -5 and I got -11. Could this be because it's an old test?

My RC was also unusually low. I'm not the strongest in RC in general -- I average 7.. but this time I also got -11. I attribute it to being tired in the morning which is something I'm going to work on these next few weeks before the exam.

I'm really looking for guidance as to whether or not the LG games on this exam are unusually difficult, or if this is a sign that I need to improve in the section all around.

patent law?

Anyone have any information about patent law? I just recently stumbled upon it and I want to gain more information on it. Anyone here pursuing patent law or know anything about it?

I’m retaking in March and have full time available to study. I took the test in November and received a 155 with a PT average of 157-160. I’ve tried self studying with the Bible’s at first but found them a little overwhelming. Then, I used a tutor who was very helpful in getting the basics down but still find myself having issues. I know what my weaknesses are: reading comp as a whole, timing in LG, necessary and sufficient assumptions in LR, LR questions that are in difficulty 3-4 (Q’s 17+ on test usually). I’ve started blind reviewing and keep a log of each question I got wrong and right and why I got it wrong versus why the right answer is right. My goal is to get a 164+ on the LSAT and get into the University of Minnesota at least (I have a 3.89 GPA).

I was wondering if I should take a 7sage course or continue studying on my own? I should mention I have every PT available and PDFs of question/game types still from my tutor.

I currently go to UC San Diego and took 20 units this past quarter while studying for the LSAT for about 2months(ish) and scored a 143 with little to no sleep before the night of the exam (insomnia) I took around.. 1-2 practice exams with no Blind Review at all, kind of just went in and hoped for the best (I know I’m stupid; However I did Volunteer work for a US House Member and worked full time). This time around I’ll be studying for a month with 7sage as well as an in-class prep course offered by my University.

I’ve read online that the average score for URM (Black Males) at T-14 schools is a 159

My stats:

I'm a first-generation Black Male

Born in Brooklyn, New York raised in the SF Bay Area (Grew Up in Rough neighborhoods, Gangs, Drugs, Violence)

I speak French (Parents are Political Refugees from the Ivory Coast; Left during the War)

Father has wrote books; has a Doctorate Degree from a Univeristy in Milan, Italy

Father left mother in Middle School; (Single Mother)

Interships one in Sacramento and one canvasing for Congressman Mike Levin

With roughly 5 weeks before my exam do any of you believe that I can score a 157 if I take this seriously.

I’ve heard of people going to 140 to 160’s but with the time constraint I’m affected by as well as the impact of soft factors on my application and the presitge of my current University I believe that a 157 could help me. Do any of you believe that high 150’s is a realistic goal?

– Thanks!

Which LSAT To Take?

I was just looking up the LSAT dates for 2019, and although I knew about the March date, I was looking for an alternate just in case. I saw that there are June and July LSATs but I can't seem to find info about whether or not those are for Saturday Sabbath observers only...anybody know?

Hi all! :)

I'm new to 7Sage and wanted to get some advice from all of you. I purchased the Ultimate+ package with 6 months out to my LSAT date (July 2019). The Study Schedule generator produced a pretty intense schedule with roughly 32 hours/week of studying. When I adjusted the generator to produce a 25 hours/week schedule, it pushed out the end date to September 2019. I work full time (with some flexibility), so I'm trying to be more realistic with my schedule and study for about 20-25 hours a week.

Any advice on lessening the hour commitment per week but still getting quality content? Any advice in general for folks working full time jobs while studying? Has anyone here taken the Ultimate+ package with 6 months out until the exam.

Delaying Law School

Hello 7sagers,

I wanted to talk about this reoccurring issue I have been having about delaying law school. So let me first start off by stating that I believe that I can go to law school for free if I score well on the LSAT. My UGPA is a 3.4 ( not amazing but hope to be a splitter). I graduated from college in 2017. I went right into TFA and hated it, and now I am at a job I love. My boss understands that I would love to go to law school in 2020, so we agreed I will most likely keep this job until next year.

However, that would place me on a deadline to take the LSAT this summer ( I want to have my applications in by late September). I have been researching and studying the lsat for a while now maybe years, and I think i finally got the right approach down. However, I am not sure I will be able to get the score i want by the summer.

So I am considering delaying as long as it takes to get that score. However, not only do i have constant fear and anxiety while studying, but now i have a fear that I am pushing back major events in my life since I am now 24 years old. Can someone who has delayed law school help me calm the F down? lol

So i want to start on January 10 and take the premium package which is 6 months. Now i go to university full time but i think with the study schedule i can manage my time and do both the LSAT and my uni courses. Do you guys think I can manage to pull this off with the premium pack?

My target score is 160-164 and I got 149 on my diagnostic test and i am kind of familiar with the test (i studied for a month and have basic knowledge of the test)

Thanks in advance people :)

Hey 7Sagers,

We're posting on behalf of a 7Sager. They would like to get advice from you!

For some reason on my first PT I got 20/27 on reading comprehension. Now every single time I take a PT I'm getting between 12-16.

I usually finish without enough time to read and answer the last questions for the last passage - any tips on how I can fix this.

Additionally, I feel like if I get say 12/23 on logic games or 17/23 I get the same score. Is the test designed to be more difficult in certain sections on certain tests? I have been consistently getting 152, and I'm hoping to get a 156.
