Not sure if any of you guys have clue, but do you guys know how attendance and course offerings work in law schools?

My wife went to med school and they had a pretty loose scheduling system. All of their lectures were placed online, and were available in powerpoint. More importantly, they had a mandatory rule of needing to be in class 75% of the time.

The reason I ask this is mostly because there is a chance I have to travel away from home to go to law school, and will be driving 3 to 4 hours on the weekends to visit my wife (and dogs!!).

Obviously, I don't want to miss classes, but an ideal scenario would be one where I go to class Monday through Thursday and can get home thursday night and come back Sunday.

Does law school scheduling have flexibility like the mentioned flexibility of some med school programs, and do we get to decide our schedule in the second or third year like we did in undergrad?

I applied ED to WUSTL. According to their website they should send a decision within two weeks of the application. I applied two weeks ago as of Dec 13. Does it mean they denied me with no notice? Is there still a chance that I will get in?

Do NOT test in Columbia.

Due to the experience in the overflow testing room, LSAC offered a cancellation and free retake, but replied that:

"Your concerns have been noted for consideration at future administrations; however, we cannot guarantee the same room will not be used again."

Proctors: The proctors were very polite and quiet.

Facilities: About 85% of test takers were seated in one of two large lecture halls, with tiered seating and plenty of space. However, there is a 15% chance you could be stuck in an overflow classroom. This classroom was crowded, and offered only single unit desk-chairs combos with inadequate space for taking the test. The smaller desk offers less than 12 inches width writing space. The "larger" desk offers about 14 inches width of writing space. I have photos that confirm this, but could not figure how to post.

The desks also have an angle steep enough that round pencils will roll off if not propped up. However, that wasn't a problem since no one had room on their desk for any spare pencils. People were allowed and encouraged to pull other units to them, and to use that chair space to store sharpeners, watch, spare pencils, etc. On both sides of the room, people had their units pulled directly against the wall to get as much separation from nearby test-takers as possible. It was ridiculous.

What kind of room: Lecture hall or small classroom

How many in the room: 75 or 26

Desks: comfortable seating, or single unit that required you to crouch forward throughout the tests

Left-handed accommodation: yes, yes

Noise levels: if you sit in the back of the first floor lecture hall, you can hear the building doors open and close throughout, the other two rooms are quiet

Parking: nearby street parking is free on Saturdays

Time elapsed from arrival to test: I don't remember when we started, but it was within a reasonable timeframe

Irregularities or mishaps: The test center director acknowledged the inadequacy of the overflow room before the test began. Multiple test takers expressed concerns, and he arrived to explain that ""I know you don't have a lot of room and that it's tight. I get complaints about this room every time, but it's the only room I could get in the building. If you want to cancel, I'll let you."

Obviously, no one walked out of the December test to take it in February, but several people (myself included) became even more frustrated to learn that he had used the desks and room previously.

Other comments: A conversation with USC testing center staff the following week indicated that they were largely unaware of the magnitude of the test, or the need to make notes that one could refer back to on following questions, which, given the inadequate writing space, required one to flip a folded test booklet back and forth throughout the test.

Would you take the test here again? NO! Under no circumstances would I ever risk getting stuck with a room that, by the test center director's own admission, offered a testing environment so cramped and inadequate that he offered to email LSAC with an explanation and offer of a free retest. Even if you live in Columbia, drive to Greenville, Charlotte, Charleston, or Orangeburg. They bid on at least 176 spots (number comes from conversation with test center staff the following week) and offer adequate accommodations for only 150. The additional spots are a lazy money grab by someone at USC.

Date[s] of Exam[s]: December, 2015 (lecture hall) December, 2016 (overflow room)

Course help

Hey guys and gals, just a quick one. I'm going through all the "PROBLEM SETS" through the Ultimate 7sage Package and was wondering which prep tests JY uses for these questions so I can purchase them specifically.

Thanks in advance!

Admin note: Don't yell at the small admins, we're fragile! No caps in titles please.

Feb LSAT

Hey everyone

I am trying 7sage after taking the LSAT two times, 143 on my first with little studying and 149 with two months studying on my second.

I will be taking the Feb LSAT fro the third time. I am aiming to improve to the 160's. MY worst section is the Logical reasoning. I feel like i have room to improve on the RC and LG section but i am totally clueless with the LR.

I am also hoping i can find a community here that i can share problems with and keep me accountable.

I will be aiming to post here everyday with my activities and progress.

Please give me any tips on how I can improve on the LR and RC so i can reach my target score.

I will be using the 7sage lsat schedule to study

Thanks Tosin.

I am finishing up my law school resume and wondering if it is entirely necessary to put how many hours per week that position was? I feel like it would be helpful for the reader, but it makes the Resume look cluttered and not as clean.

Additionally, Do I have to put the month of the year that I started the position? Or is the year sufficient? Due to formatting, I would have to completely redo my resume if I put the month of the year, but if it is necessary I am absolutely willing to do so. Thoughts?

Thank you 7Sage community! Oh how I wish I could have find you all before I paid $1000 for an in person prep course...

Is there a way to reset my login and take redo everything? Wondering if I can choose the option to extend it or if there is a fee I can pay to wipe it clean so I can start from the beginning but every time I want to choose the continue option it takes me to where I ultimately left off before.

I'm looking for advice on how to work with the LSAC on transcripts. I've taken the LSAT, and I have my resume, personal statements, and applications ready for submission before a November 15th scholarship priority deadline. I had all 3 of the prior colleges I have attended submit transcripts. One of the colleges listed a 2 credit course I tested out of as "Other". The LSAC has interpreted this as meaning the 2 credits are transferred from another University and has listed as an "Unknown" 4th College on my LSAC account.

I called and emailed the LSAC who stated to send a revised transcript. Fair enough. I called the University's Registrar about the situation who stated they would send the revised transcript if I sent in a new transcript request form. Three weeks later I called the LSAC and asked if they had received my transcript, and they had not. I emailed the University's Registrar Office and asked if they would please send the revised transcript. The registrar stated she would not send revised or altered transcripts for any purpose. So, I re-called the LSAC. The representative stated they would only accept a revised transcript. I have forwarded the Registrar's email to the LSAC and patiently awaiting a reply on what I'm suppose to do...

Is there a simpler way to go about this? Has anyone experienced transcript issues or known someone experiencing transcript issues before?

Study Buddy

I'm looking for someone who is open to being a study buddy over Skype. Preferably someone who has started to blind review and is interested in doing about 2 tests per week (or one!) and is interested in blind-reviewing the sections with me. I'm aiming for Feb 2017 test date but will push back to June 2017 if necessary.

I'd like our study sessions to be productive to the both of us so while I am interested in blind review, I don't mind going over anything else, even if it's certain fundamentals, etc.

Sorry for the click-bait title.. But I was wondering if anyone has taken a test and went ahead and registered for the next test while they waited for their test results?

To be more specific: I have just taken this December 2016 LSAT, and I am thinking of registering for the February 2017 LSAT because I want to enroll in law school fall 2017. I know if I took prep-tests all throughout this month and next month then I will be set for confidently scoring high enough to get into Emory with my GPA and resume. I just froze on the logic games portion on the December test because I forgot how to set-up the game board for two games.. I didn't have enough time or energy to practice the foul-proof method during the semester, so I'm beating myself up for that... However, now that I am on Christmas break and done with the 10-hr internship plus work 25 hours a week and five classes, I have SOOOOO much more free-time and focus. With my schedule it took me 5-7 damn months to finish the freaking 3 month curriculum because I took my time with learning everything (even though I watched everything on 2x+), and I honestly didn't have enough time to take like any practice tests, BUT when I did a blind review with my friend I was getting everything right, and I passed out and woke up and took the LSAT the next day (sounds horrible I know).

I need at least a 165, and I have talked to Emory officials, and they stated that they only look at the highest LSAT score. So with that being said, would y'all recommend me registering for the Feb exam and taking serious practice tests until Jan 4th when the scores are released..? I also talked to an LSAT official, and they said they would refund my entire $180 if I emailed them my situation that I am content with my December score. IDK, IDK WHY I AM SO LOST.... I get anxiety when I see everyone set and here I am all late n'shit. I haven't even started my application process or anything.........fjdngdjf;s

Thanks in advance for responding. <3

Hello all -

In my application there is a section for academic awards, honors, etc, and I'm wondering what this would be considered. For example, would each semester I made the Dean's List be applicable? I believe my Leadership Distinction obviously should be on there, but what about graduating Cum Laude, or a Honor's Society I joined?

Retake

I just took the dec 2016 test and I have mixed feelings. I don't feel I did my best so I would like to retake. My question is when should I start studying again? My goal was to take February but realistically September the latest.

Hi guys

So I am reluctantly applying for accommodations for February. Three years ago I began exhibiting symptoms of OCD and I've been receiving treatment for it ever since. I took the December exam, but didn't apply mostly because I was really anxious about it, and also because after reading up on the accommodations online I realy didn't think that I would get approved. I am registered with my university's program for accommodations, but I haven't had to use them. This is mostly because my condition was diagnosed only a year ago and I've taken very few classes since then. I have been approved for extra time if needed by the university, but I just didn't feel like I needed it in the past. Well that changed in December. During the break I had a minor anxiety attack. I felt like I couldn't read when I opened up the first section...lol, and my OCD was off the charts. I think it's just because I've never taken an exam that has been this stressful. The LSAT triggers anxiety for most people, and having an actual anxiety disorder made this experience horrible. I want to see if I can get approved for February so I have a fair shot at actually finishing the exam without losing control of my mind. Basically wondering if anyone with a similar condition was approved and, if so, any recommendations for documents I should send in with my request. Just filling out the form right now and I'm hopeful I'll get approved without an extensive history of accommodations.

Thanks guys :)

Also for everyone recovering from December, how are you picking back up and studying for Feb? I took a week off (not really I had to submit my final thesis for my undergrad), and now I'm going to start with some LR questions to warm up. Maybe I'll do a PT in a week or so to see where I'm at.

Misbubbling a section

UPDATE***

Got a response back from LSAC and wanted to share in case there are people who are in the same situation as I am:

If you wish to verify or contest the machine scoring of your answer sheet after you have received your LSAT score, you may request a rescoring of your answer sheet by hand. LSAC will not handscore answers recorded in the test book. Requests to handscore your answer sheet must be made in writing and postmarked no later than 60 days after the test date.

Send a letter that includes:

* Your request for handscoring and your reason for the request

* your name, LSAC assigned identification number

* the test date

* the test center name and code number

* a $100 check or money order payable to LSAC

* your signature

If the handscoring results in a score that is different from the original machine scoring -higher or lower- the revised score will be mailed to you and the law schools to which you apply

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anyone misbubbled a section on the test before? I took the December test and saw that in my RC I only bubbled in 26 out of 27 questions. Unfortuantely, realized this while the proctor was collecting the answer sheets. I'm pretty sure I answered question 27, which means I skipped a question and bubbled in my answers incorrectly from then on.

I saw on other online forums that some were successful in getting their scores changed with a re-grading fee, but some were flat out denied the chance. Any advice?

Hello, would like to hear from other students as well...

So I'm thinking to visit the schools that I would like to apply.

Would it be helpful to talk to admission people there or can it actually hurt?

I do not want to give negative images and thought if so I would rather not visiting them...

In which case it can hurt application and in which case it can be helpful?

What questions would you ask them and what questions would you avoid?

Thank you!

Whenever I take a PT I find that there are about 25 questions (on the entire test total) that I'm unable to get to or finish while timed. My total number of questions wrong is much lower than that, and when I do these questions untimed I have no problem answering them. What are some techniques that some of you used to finish the section within the allotted time without compromising on accuracy?

Hi all,

I wanted to see how many of you would be interested in a study group for all us parents. More like a study/support group as being a parent while studying for the LSAT presents its own unique set of challenges. I think we can learn from each other as we go through this process together.

Let me know!

Long story short - I took a years worth of a challenging foreign language as a requirement to graduate with my second major of choice. My GPA suffered as a result. Should I explain this in an addendum or will the Admissions Committee review my transcripts and disregard it since its a foreign language and has little to do with my ability to succeed in law school? If I should write an addendum, how should I go about it without sounding like a whiner/arrogant?

Additionally, I took the LSAT more than once and plan on writing an addendum for my LSAT score. Should I keep the two addenda separate and attach two separate addenda or upload it as one file, on two separate pages?

Thanks! :)

Hey everyone,

I am waiting for my December LSAT score and i just registered for the February LSAT just in case i don't get my target score. I've already applied to schools this cycle and they are all waiting for my december results. This question might be premature since I might have done well on my December LSAT but do you believe one can improve with only one month of studying? I would start studying after my score comes out if I fall short, which gives me January to February. I've finished the core curriculum. I think my main weakness may be the logic games section this past test. I genuinely have no clue what i got on that section but i'll be happy with a 70%. I felt like i was guessing a lot even though i felt adequately prepared for the logic games section and was looking forward to it after my 15 minute break. I honestly can't explain what went wrong. I did take a few days off of studying before my December test and i'm wondering if that had something to do with it. Generally, it's the RC section that gives me trouble. FYI, I have consistently scored my target score during practice tests, so I felt ready to write in December and i wasn't nervous or tired during test day. LG might have gone horribly wrong, i just don't know.

I took my first LSAT, this December. I am staying optimistist about the result, hoping I will score enough to get into the school I will me applying. But then again, there is always a chance I might have to take it again. I decided not to mess with February since, I want to take a break and on top of that, I don't think I can improve my score substantially. Wondering, what do you guys do while waiting for the results?

The dude

Hello Everyone!

I took the June LSAT and my score was not high enough for my target schools, so I am gearing up to take the September/December exam ( I have not decided which one I will be taking yet). I am looking for a motivated study partner in Atlanta who is open to meet a couple days out of the week.

Thanks,

Kristen
