Hello!! I have some GPA/transcript related questions for anyone that may be able to help.

My story is that I went to college back from 2011-2013. I partied a lot and didn't really take it seriously. I ended up dropping six classes, failed one, D in another, and C's through A's for the rest. I then dropped out and joined the military. Since being in the military I've gotten my associate's and taken plenty more classes online resulting in mostly A's. I have a total of 97/120 credits and a 3.1 GPA. My Poli Sci advisor said a 3.1 isn't bad for law school, but I'd like to get it up as high as possible to have the best shot at top schools.

Now I am out of the military, I am going back to finish my Undergrad in person at a state school. I am classified as a senior, likely graduating Spring 2023 or sooner. My receiving school did not take many of the A's I got from credits earned while in the military as electives, but they did take my F and D class (of course). I am taking things much more seriously this time around and am obviously aiming for straight A's until graduation. I know GPA is important on law school admissions so here are my questions:

I plan to retake the F and D class to help get the GPA higher. I have been told that the new grade will replace the old grade in the GPA, BUT that the old grade is still visible on the transcript? Does anyone know if this is a hinderance on Law School admissions, even if the failing/low grade is replaced with an A?

Do law schools care about W's (dropped classes) on transcripts?

Do law schools look into institution attended/different dates attended? I.e. - are law schools going to be able to recognize the date difference in my lower grades 2012 versus higher grades in 2022?

Any help/insight is much appreciated and happy holidays!!

Has anyone else had an issue with their LG sorting function? I have been 'pinning' the substitution equivalent questions and also making notes on them as I've been going through and now I want to drill them - but when I go to the LG problem set page, hit "all PT's" and sort by 'pinned' - nothing comes up. Same for the "has note" button. I have refreshed, restarted, new window, logged in and out. Same result. #help.

I applied to HYSCCN and was rejected 2 times a few years ago. Lsat 171.

My lsat is 5 years old and I find computer-based test much harder, so unsure I can beat it.

I wanted to change career to law from SW engineering, but the rejections were hard.

The opportunity cost of leaving SWE job was worth only for T6.

I'm wondering what other possible degree can provide similar level of intellectual energy as a JD.

Anyone in similar boat?

What did you do?

Admissions Result

Hi guys. I just wanted to make a post to end my 7sage career. I took the LSAT twice, cancelled in August, was apart of the crowd that got messed up in October and ended up getting a lower end 160. I was devastated and thought I wouldn't get into any schools. I ended up getting into Georgetown yesterday after applying at the beginning of November. I guess I post this to let everyone studying know that things are going to work out even if you don't think they will. Best of luck to everyone :)

Hi everyone, I took the test two days ago and I’ve tried not to think about it but I‘m starting to feel that I didn’t do as well as I planned to. I think LG went well, I was confident about my answers except for one question. RC I feel okay about but given that this section has always varied for me (-5 to -8) I can’t say for sure. LR is the toss-up. I don’t know if you guys have experienced this but the questions seemed foreign and I just can’t pinpoint why. Usually in practice I’m able to eliminate and narrow down to two choices but for several questions I had three choices still remaining and couldn’t quite pinpoint the purpose of the stimulus. I felt this way about LR in August (first time taking) as well but at that point I thought perhaps I just didn’t have enough experience. Obviously I won’t know my score until December but I’m feeling bummed that the section I was most excited about I just couldn’t execute as planned.

With about two months to January, I am thinking about reading the Loophole — has this been helpful for any of you? My goal score is 170 and at this point I feel like maybe I should go back to the basics and try the sections untimed to guage my accuracy before continuing with timed practices. Would appreciate all advice! Thanks!

Hunt Mode LR Questions

Hello Sagers,

I have been really attacking LR recently and I am able to go -0-1 in BR but my focus now is getting that timed. I am wanting to save time on easier questions/Cookie Cutter questions. Often times you hear high scorers talk about going into "hunt mode" for certain question types. For those scoring in the 170's or high 160's what questions types can you use this "hunt mode" on?

80s LR

My logical reasoning accuracy has dropped off since entering the 80s PTs. I was averaging around -3 to -5 and now am sitting -5 to -7. I have read LR difficulty increased around the time the 80s PTs started rolling out. Does anyone have any tips on how to handle this jump in difficulty, or dip in performance? I am considering drilling higher level questions as well as really going through all of the 80s LR questions slowly during BR and afterward to try to figure out where I am going wrong. Taking the January test and currently sitting around the 163 range. Looking to get into the high 160s/low 170s/

Can someone break down the stimulus and translate it for me? I feel like I don't understand what the stimulus is trying to say.

Why does the society has a policy decision to make? why pay $240,000? does that mean the society is paying for the experiment? why is it 120 * $2000? Also why is it only saving one more patient, if the drug goes onto the market wouldn't that benefit more people since its 1 more person per 120? And lastly why is the NA here is there is no other way of telling if S effective as T? Isn't the stimulus already established that trial shows that T would prevent 1 more death out of 120 than S would? So isn't that the effectiveness of the drug?

I'm confusion.

Hi, could someone who understands this passage thoroughly translate paragraphs 3 and 4 with me? JY's explanation video for this passage zoomed through the last paragraph and I was still left pretty confused.

I do understand that overall, this passage is detailing Meyerson's critique of CLS and Paragraph 3 gets at one of her main issues with a key tenet of CLS, namely that just because we have two equally compelling solutions to a legal question, it must therefore mean that any choice between the two must be random or irrational and I get that she clearly doesn't agree but what I don't understand is why M would choose to bring in an "utterly unreasonable answer" to help decide between the two solutions. Like how would that help?

And for the last paragraph, is that first sentence just a really long-winded, abstract way of saying that the legal process is not necessarily moral? I also am confused about the whole who endorses the rules of the game in the final three sentences. What is the actual point of all this?

And I get it, during timed conditions I cannot hope to understand every detail but I'm reviewing right now and would like to try.

Negation help! (without)

Without literacy there can be no general awareness of the injustice in a society.

How do I negate this sentence?

Should I negate 'without' as well?

(me: Without literacy there can be some general awareness of the injustice in a society.)

I just started using 7sage. I have 5 weeks until the test. I scored a 150 on my diagnostic. I only need a 156 to get into the school I want. That's the median score, but my GPA is high, a 3.9.

My question is, what is the most efficient way to get to the 156? Do I drill the practice tests and then blind review? Or do I pick a section to work the most on to try to gain the points in that particular section to raise the total score? My diagnostics were:

LG -10 13 out of 23

LR -8 17 out of 25

LR -11 14 out of 25

RC -11 16 out of 27

What would you do?

CRS Emails

I have both my LSAT and GPA registered with LSAC and have been getting a bunch of emails from schools with waivers. Some schools are prestigious. Are these schools actually interested in me or do they send to everyone?

Does anyone have any experience or tips on negotiations? I have a 50% scholarship offer from a school that I would be considered in-state. So I would only have to pay 15k a year. I have another offer from a different school out of state. They offered only 10k in scholarships. The out-of-state school has better ranking, and location. I think it might be better for my career. So how do I get them to increase their offer? Or could I get them to increase their offer?

LSAT addendum

My LSAT score jumped 19 points. From a 157 in June to a 176 in November. There were a few factors to why I scored so low in June compared to Nov (Exam day after finals week, loud college town, my room was 90 degrees, etc.) but more than anything I just wasn't ready. would explaining that i was exhausted from finals week be a good enough reason to explain the score jump? Also should I mention my cancelled score from April in my addendum?

Thanks for any help!

I felt like the most terrible order for me would be RC, RC, LG, LR

It would be extremely awful to have two RCs in a row and they are the first 2 sections.... I am so nervous.

I would be mentally exhausted to do the rest two sections.

Worst among the worst: the 2nd RC is the real RC section that accounts.

Hi, everyone!!

Not sure if anyone would be interested in having a discord group or groupme chat to help proof-read personal statements? Just wrote my first draft and would love to get some feedback. I am sure others are on the same boat! Please reach out if interested!

Hello,

This is the first time I'm taking the LSAT. I am looking for a LSAT study buddy, study group and people to share resources. I've been using the Trainer and Khan to study but I just can't seem to get a grasp at the strengthen and weaken logical reasoning section. Is there anyone willing to take part of a study group? I recently started my studying journey. If you like to take part you can reach me by email. We can connect through Skype, Zoom, text, calls, facetime etc.

Hi,

For those who have used Manhattan Prep RC, could anyone direct me on how to find out which PTs they use through out the book? I'm looking at the book and I don't see any indices of works used. This would be very helpful because I don't want any book to ruin certain PTs for me.

Thanks

Should I write an addendum

My freshman year I had an incident with drinking and got on probation with my school. I just called the office of student conduct to ask if it would show up on my transcript or any materials that get sent to law schools. They told me no and that the only time they report an incident to a school is if they reach out for a "background check sort of thing." Even in that case, they only report "major" incidents. I asked if probation is considered a major incident and he said no. To clarify even further I asked if my probation would be reported to law schools if they reached out and he said "no probation isn't considered a major incident."

Based off his answers, I don't think I need to write an addendum. I'm just so worried that somehow law schools will find out and in the case I didn't write one, I'm screwed. On the other hand, if I write one and they don't find out, I also screwed myself. I know you're supposed to write an addendum about any incident you had, but if it's not being reported, do I need to? I really don't know what to do here. I don't want to write about a drinking incident if I don't have to. But I also don't want it to bite me in the butt.
