Hey all! Random technical question. My (pretty old) Macbook Air is on El Capitan 10.11.6, but the Proctor U website says the minimum is "MacOS 10.13 (Oldest Still Maintained Version)." Should I be concerned? My computer is definitely still functioning, not quite sure what they mean by oldest still maintained version.

Anyone have experience taking it on an operating system like mine?

Thanks!

Topic: PT75 LR/RC sections

Time: Sat 4/3/21 @ 5PM Central Time

Voice call link: https://meet.google.com/ckf-rutp-vkm

I'm planning to take all 4 sections of PT75 under real exam conditions and would love to hop on call with some people from the community who've done the same. Looking for people who are ready to pick apart LSAT's arguments with gusto and trade tips on managing difficult questions under time.

What to expect:

  • Come prepared with our individual BR completed and WITHOUT scoring or reviewing any answers ahead of time! Also fine if you come without have done your own BR.
  • Have questions flagged and ready to review. We can collect all the questions at the start of the section and prioritize.
  • Main focus will be LR/RC sections. I haven't done an LG BR call before, but I'd be open to it depending on people's interest.
  • Comment below or DM if you're interested and let's smash PT75 together

Hi everyone- looking for people who plan to take the June LSAT who'd be interested in a study group to meet every week/ other week to blind review together. I'm currently in the mid 150s looking to get 168+. I'm in EST, hoping to meet in the evenings. Send me a message if you're interested!

-Group is now full, thank you!-

I just got an email saying that we register for April LSAT Flex timeslots on Thursday. For first time test-takers, do we get to create a ProctorU account before Thursday or can we only do that once timeslot registration starts? Thanks!

    Hello fellow sages,

I've been reviewing RC and had a bunch of sections printed off. I was doing close to perfect.

I switched to doing sections on lawhub and, oh man, it's really hurting my score.

I tried several approaches and nothing seems to be helping. I just process and retain text on a screen differently than I do on paper.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

PT M20. Note: this test drew from the June and October '19 tests. Similar released PTs will be in the 87-89 range.

    All scoring levels welcome.

    Requirements:

  • Have taken the PT or at least the section you want to BR under representative timed conditions.
  • Flag or otherwise indicate the questions that gave you trouble for BR. We likely won't be doing every question on the test, just those indicated.
  • Do not check your answers. This defeats the purpose of a BR call, and reduces the potential value to be extracted. Obviously there is no one "right" way, but in this group, the call should ideally be your first look at the material since your timed run.
  • We can also explore individual issues, general LSAT strategies, and become needlessly dramatic about the new T14 rankings.

Link to the meeting will be in this post. Venue TBD as I don't have one of those fancy school Zoom accounts. As of right now, default will probably be a google meeting so we won't have a time limit. If anyone has a school Zoom and is willing to host let me know!

    Check back here for updates!

I think that this is one rare occasion where 7sage doesn't do a great job of answering the question. #19 choice A isn't wrong because insular is incorrect (quite honestly it might be a better choice then misguided) however understanding the term "cosmopolitan" is the key. Insular and misguided are both not wrong, however admirable is also not wrong, but cosmopolitan is. I think this explanation needs to be changed.

I've had someone mention this to me in passing and it was just mentioned in another 7Sage discussion forum:

"PT M20. Note: this test drew from the June and October '19 tests. Similar released PTs will be in the 87-89 range."

I think I've also heard this on an LSAT podcast episode. Can someone direct me to a resource where I can learn more about this? And as a follow-up, do we know what the case will be for April and June tests? Any help or guidance would be really really appreciated, thanks 🙏

I’ve spent 40mins on this question. Can someone please help me to see if I’m making sense. At this point, I’m googling everyday vocabulary I come across in LSAT cuz this test will make you question your understanding of words you use everyday. The whole stimulus has me confused so I attempted to explain it by anaology. Here we go:

Fashion insiders have defined a supermodel as a highly paid, Instagram model.

Ok, but these two do not go hand in hand so what’s the tea?

A 90s model can be highly paid-doesn’t make her an instagram model.

Correspondingly, you can be an instagram model and not be highly paid.

    This definition then is wrong.

If the definition is wrong, does it mean we're trying to argue that both go together?

Whoa! Why such a hasty conclusion?

For such a conclusion to hold means there has been some kind of violation in defining what a supermodel is. It requires you to be highly paid, but if the author is concluding on the relevance example by 90s models, then it depends on the assumption that the definition requirements have been violated.

    a. 90s models were never instagram models. For NA, I tend to steer away from absolutes but here, if this is true then the conclusion isn’t wrong. Why? Because we’ve covered what it takes to be considered a supermodel. So it’s not the assumption. I honestly don’t know how I’ll be able to rule this out under time constraints.

    b. 90s often become instagram models. So? Often? How often? Even if very often, do we know about their instagram affiliation?

    c. 90’s models who are highly paid and IG models. If i’m violating the premise here by saying these highly paid models were also instagram girls, this assumption supports my contention that the meaning of supermodel is wrong. If we negate this, 90s models who are highly paid are not IG models. Baby the conclusion isn't wrong then-which wrecks the arguement.

    d. 90’s models who are instagram models are highly paid models. This is reversed.

    e. Throw this answer in the trash. It’s wrong in all forms.

While you're here, drop me some good luck and positivity. I've been at this for a year and I still don't see the light. My entire life savings for 11 years is almost all gone because I decided to devote my all to this.

Hi!! I have just begun hitting the PT's the last 2-3 weeks and have been scoring 159-163. I am aiming for a 160+ on test day (in June) but would like to consistently PT in mid 160s just for wiggle room. Is this too much to ask/an unrealistic expectation? I know I have improvement possible on logic games for sure- I'm trying to perfect them which will greatly raise my score. RC is my strongest subject, usually -3 or -4. LR kind of jumps around (-8 to as low as -3), but I feel like with the exposure to PT's I have gotten more comfortable with LR. Plus drilling some commonly missed problem types on the side. Anyways, all in all just wanted to see if PT around 164-165 (even consistently at 163) is an unrealistic goal. My highest has been a 163, but my most common score has been a 160. I'm just cruising from now until June test day about 4 PT's a week with the other days being LG drilling for the most part. I am a full time student finishing up my junior year of undergrad but this hasn't gotten in the way of my study plans due to everything being online. Lol... longer post than anticipated but just want to see everyone's thoughts. Thanks in advance!! Good luck to all my fellow peeps looking to write in June :)

Help! I’m having a hard time ruling out B, C and E. Try to work with my analogy. I get overwhelmed after spending too much time with the stimulus.

Since Hillary Clinton always pays her political debt as soon as possible, she will almost certainly appoint Donald Trump to the supreme court.

Donald has wanted the job for a long time and Secretary Clinton owes President Trump a lot for his support in the last election.

I honestly did not know what to think and went straight to the answers. Any tips?

    a. If Mrs. Clinton has no debt that is currently longer than the one owed to Mr. Trump, and it could be suitably paid with a seat on the court then, there the “almost certainly” holds. If we negate this, we’re saying Madame Secretary has owed Joe Biden, Kevin McCarthy much longer and they could be suitably be appointed to the bench. The id!ot in me stopped during BR and realized that if this is true, how can I convince myself that Trump’s appointment to the court is almost certain? Eliminate.

    b. I eliminated this because the magnitude of debt doesn’t matter. Say maybe, Speaker Pelosi introduced Mrs. Clinton to her biggest donor at the time her campaign was at the brink of extinction, but Speaker Pelosi isn’t suited for the court (because she has no legal background).

    c. Trump is the only person who Mrs. Clinton owes who would be willing to accept her appointment. So far, my reason to eliminate this would be that his willingness to accept the appointment could have no bearing on her appointing him. Maybe she wanted to go after Obama, who wouldn’t willing accept it as first hand but could be convinced to. This doesn’t make the assumption a strong one. The acceptance could have zero relation to her decision of appointment.

    d. True. Heck, he became president.Negating this and viewing him as a highly qualified candidate doesn’t do anything to the argument.

    e. “The only way.” Absolutes are always a red flag for me on NA. THe stimulus says, the debt has to be paid. Whether is adequately done, sufficiently, insufficiently or unimpressively done is not my business. As long, as it’s paid.

So I'm preparing for the April flex but I've been taking full (4 section) PTs as I study and I've noticed that on my past 4 PTs I've consistently scored better on the 2nd LR section, sometimes significantly better.

These recent PTs were all in the 80s and I've pretty much hit -1 on the 2nd LR every time. I know I won't have a 2nd LR on the flex so idk if I should take an LR section (or half of one?) the morning before my test or something... Anyone else the same/anyone have any advice?

What should we expect in terms of LSAT Flex setup on test-day? (Does it take long to connect with our proctors after logging on, how does communication with the proctor work, and do we use our phones to scan the room?) Thank you!

    Hi,

Here is some basic info of me: I took two lsat's two years ago and cancelled them. It was so stupid to do that but I was like a nuts and know nothing about lsat. I took another two lsat last year, one for 150, one for 157. I started studying since October last year. My current pt score (using LSAC Lawhub) is around 170, sometimes higher sometimes lower.

I registered lsat in June. Recently, I talked with some people in this boat, read some related articles. All said that I shouldn't take more than five times. So this would be my last chance to get a fine score.

So I wonder if anyone had experiences taking more than five times? Does that affect admission a lot?

If not taking June, My options are August or October. I feel that October is a little bit late. And June is the last flex test, meaning less materials, less pressure?

Just want to talk with someone who had this issue.

    Thanks!

So I ended up getting the question right but only due to process of elimination.

PC(--some--)MB (I just reversed MB(---) PC)

    PC-->P-->I

    Inferences

    1.PC-->I

    2.MBC(--some--)P

    3.MBC(---some--) I

    A. Inference 3

    B. Inference 3

    C. Contrapositive of inference 1

    D. Inference 2

    E. Correct answer due to elimination (But I don't understand the answer entirely)

  • Some irritating and beautiful cats are not Persian Cats Contrapositive of P--->I is /P--->/I which is half the answer then /I(---)MBC(---)/P which seems valid. I'm a bit confused
  • Thanks!

Studying for a summer retake and the newspaper game (4th on my Jan LSAT) is in the back of my mind. Is there any games like that? Though the probability of a similar game is low, I still want to be prepared.

    2

I took PT 62 and it was an absolute dumpster fire. On my ten most recent PTs I've averaged 170+ but everything went wrong today. For the first time in months A) I didn't finish games and B ) I had to guess on some LR questions (I didn't get to every question).

I'm likely burnt out as I'm adjusting to my new full-time job and I'm struggling to find the right balance/study schedule. I got a 166 in January and don't plan to apply until Fall '22. I don't have a dream school, I just want to do my best and keep options open.

I'd love to get everyone's advice -- especially anyone who successfully retook. Thanks!

I'm looking to take the LSAT-flex in June, but have in the back of my mind that I may need to retake in October. My last few PTs, I have NOT been simulating flex and taking all 4 sections, but not doing a 5th simulated experimental section. My logic is that if I practice longer mental endurance than I need, the flex will be a little bit easier. That being said, with one less LR section on the real exam, I'm wondering if my flex score would be higher or lower than how I'm doing on the full 4 sections.

How are other people going about their PTs these days?

I wanna discuss about P's reasoning method; especially how does P from M's words make this inference: "no one else could read them, according to your hypothesis."

is there any part in M's reasoning can P infer that people not knowing the epics well enough to write them down can't read them.

Thank you so much for the help.

The background here is that I have a significant math-based disability that boils down to not being very good at reading graphs. My RC and LR sections are fine- mostly -4- but even with extra time I am struggling to get a single Game right. Is anything I can do besides bang my head against the wall?? Does anyone have a non-visual method of doing this? Or do I just need to focus on the other two sections perfect and consider this a wash. I need a 160 and I am currently around 156 if I manage to get a single game.
