Hello Everyone,

I got a 150 LSAT Dec 2017 and a 148 LSAT June 2017. I decided to bite the bullet and apply this cycle. I submitted my applications probably a few days before the deadlines (red flag one). I thought my URM, 3.4 GPA for a top public university, 4 years of WE would help. So far, I got WL at my dream school (a top 10), accepted to a few tier two schools, and one top 100 law school (denied elsewhere, even one school I was sure I would get accepted to).

I attended the top 100 school for admitted students day and did not like it. I did not like the area, I did not like the school environment, and intuitively I felt like it was not the "one" for me.

I am truly heartbroken. I KNOW I can do so much better on the LSAT (BR was 164. Logic games is my worst section) but I want to go to law school already. However, I do not see myself at the school I did not like. If I retake and reapply, I will quit my job, study full time (something I didn't do), and apply as soon as applications open. I just dread studying AGAIN, how I will economically support myself, and waiting ANOTHER year.

Someone please help. Should I ride out the WL at the top 10 (I plan on doing that) or completely scrap everything and reapply this fall?

My house is filled to the brim with distractions, and at times I go to a local cafe to study for hours on end, but I'm debating whether it is worth it to go to a place with less distraction for more focused studying, or should I stay put at home and practice testing despite loud noises, conversations and a great deal of general noise outside? Any and all strategies are appreciated.

Can someone explain the process of fool-proofing? What resources do you use? Does is matter if I fool proof before or after going through CC? How many months (average) does is take?

I have been looking at different blogs and in chat rooms as well as directly at law school admission pages and have not come to a conclusive answer to my question. In my senior year of high school I was suspended for two days for a sexually suggestive joke I made toward a faculty member.

I understand that in most people's case they would not have to send their high school transcript to law schools, however I earned college credit while in my Senior year from the local community college. I am pretty sure I will need to send them my high school transcript, so that opens the door to questions regarding disciplinary action in high school, correct? I know the general rule is to err on the side of full disclosure and it will depend on the specific wording of the Character and Fitness questions, it is just a difficult situation to explain. I was essentially just an immature Senior who didn't think twice about the joke I made until I was called into the principle's office.

Thanks for the help!

I’m taking the June 2018 LSAT as my last shot to get off my first and second choice schools’ waitlists. I have already been accepted (and had to pay my seat deposit) at my third choice. When do I need to start applying for private student loans? I don’t have any undergraduate debt, so I’m totally lost on how this whole borrowing process works. Any advice would help.

Expiration?

Hi guys, I haven’t been able to find the answer to this, so I’ll post it here. I’m about a year and a half away from my bachelors and I want to start LSAT Prep, but know I won’t be able to tend to it daily. Do these courses expire after a certain amount of time after purchasing?

Hey guys, so I recently decided to postpone from taking the June 2018 to June 2019. Now with all this extra time on my hands I'm trying to figure out how to pace myself. I've been studying about 2 hours/day during the week and 3 hours/day on weekends (working full time + two kids). I want to start with the CC and then once I work through it upgrade to the Ultimate package, but I'm also seeing talk of the Trainer by Mike Kim? Any advice on what rate to pace myself at as to not run out of preptests, go too slowly as to not be actively involved, and also if purchasing the Starter now and upgrading as I progress throughout the next 14 months?

Backround: my diagnostic is 157, the highest I've scored is 161, I want high 160s to low 170s (or higher obv.)

June'18 Study Group | Blind Review PT 72 | Tuesday, April 24th | 7:30 pm EST

https://media.giphy.com/media/CFNyzQcxs8JJ6/giphy.gif

I hope you're ready or gearing up to start PTing for the June 2018 LSAT. Join us this Tuesday if you are finished with the CC.

Provisional Schedule: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=f3n8s2l60gkgm2ju8m8kk4vhn4@group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/New_York

Note:

For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able on your own; then join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.

Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it.” KEEP THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOURSELF. Win the argument with your reasoning.

These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).

The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via GoToMeeting and intellectually slaughter each test.

Enter any questions you wish to go over on the spreadsheet below!

Hello all,

We will have our first SG BR session on Thursday June 14th, 7:30 PM EST of PT 39. We will be using GoToMeeting as our platform - access kindly provided by 7sage.

Just a couple administrative things:

First, this group is open to anyone. If you are done the curriculum or almost done the curriculum, join us when you can. We welcome people in all stages of prep. The point of the group is to get your lsat nerd on with other like-minded people and make the process more fun. Expand your thinking and learning by interacting with others! For my fellow shy-people, everyone is going to be focused on their own answers/questions that I guarantee you they will not be judging you based on mispronounced words, reading-speed, etc. It's all for fun!

Second, I'm going to make it a bit of a prerequisite that people watch this wonderful webinar before we start: https://classic.7sage.com/webinar/post-core-curriculum-study-strategies/. It discusses the right mindset for approaching PT's and the wrong one. Someone once told me that wisdom is learning from other people's mistakes, not just your own. The webinars and forums are filled with stories of peoples mistakes and regrets (and what they learned from it), listen to their stories and save yourself some heartache.

Third, please don't neglect signs of burn out as it will only get worse. If you feel tired and feel as if you are making more easy mistakes than usual, it's a sign of burn-out. Take a day or two off. If that's not enough, take a week off. A week or even a month, in the long run, won't affect your chances of success on the test. If it does, then you probably weren't ready to take it officially anyway and that's fine. The test, law school, application dates, lsac, etc. aren't going anywhere. They'll be there a few months and even the year after. Read this wonderful thread https://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/3598; there are many others if you just search 'burnout'

Fourth, as a reward for getting this far here is the tentative schedule for the group, which may be subject to some changes:

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=keets993@gmail.com&ctz=America/Toronto

Note: Take the PT on your own under timed conditions and BR it to the best of your abilities. Before the start of each session, we will have a spreadsheet where people can enter the questions they wish to cover. If you already know the answer, please don't spoil it for anyone. Similarly, don't go "I know the answer is A but I still don't get why B is wrong?" Instead, use your reasoning to convince others and yourself :)

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as possible :)!

I wanted to gauge an unscientific poll. Let's say you graduated law school and graduated at the top of your class and you pass the bar exam at the top scorers. Let's say you had a big bankroll to support you for the rest of your life, and you still yearn to practice law regardless how much dinero you had.

I will start. I will say country lawyer for myself where I don't have the stress of living in the city and serve the same clients in a small town. Go ahead and post your opinion. There are no right or wrong answers.

Hi, Everyone. I hope things are going well. Currently, I am on the waiting list for a few schools that I would like to attend. I have been accepted to a school that I am willing to attend, however, I will definitely make a switch if I am offered a decision from the wait-list. I would like to know if I accept scholarships, loans etc from one school, will I be on the hook for any payments if I am called from the wait-list and choose to attend another school? If anyone has any insight on this, I'd love to know. Thanks!

hey all,

in many of JY's LR explanation videos, he often visualizes the LR stimulus - either by drawing something, or diagramming, or putting some numbers down. Note : this 'writing stuff down' isn't just for conditional logic, but for other things as well.

often, i find that for very long and convoluted LR stimuluses, i need to write some things down to keep track of the various relationships among the various variables. this is especially true for LR questions that are very math heavy/a math problem in disguise.

anyway, do other people do this...or do they manage to just keep it all in their head? any advice or comments would be appreciated. thanks!

I’m looking at PT 70’s game 2 right now and I’m trying to understand the intuition behind question 12. “Which one of the following is a pair of employees at least one of whom must be on the team?” Would someone mind explaining to me how they know which members must be in in an conditional chain for an in-out game? Is the logic that it’s the friendly variable that doesn’t kick many other variables out?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello 7sagers,

I was just wondering if I started a masters program and did not complete it do I have to put that school on my application for example lsac . I just want to know if a withdrawal or W in a institution I no longer want to attend wouldn’t look so good on my application. Is it possible I don’t have

To bring up the school at all ?

16personalities.com

There is a lot of good criticism of the personality test, but I still think it's interesting to discuss..esp. in ctxt of the LSAT. Wondering if certain personality types (like analysts) actually tend to do better on the LSAT. I found very limited data with a google search. Thought the forum could be a good place to talk about it, criticize the test, and perhaps get into a nature vs. nurture debate :)

Hi Guys, I need your help and perspectives with my gap year activities and will it affect my school application for 2018-2019

I graduated Chemical Engineering with a lot of projects and grants for research under my belt. I was also in the top 10% of my graduating year. I took the LSAT last December and got a very dissappointing score, partly because I was burnt out by the time I graduated, so I took a long overdue vacation and studying for the LSAT took a back seat. Next thing I knew, I have 2 months to prep for the December test. (This is entirely my fault)... I am prepping for the June but could be adjusted to July or September (I just checked the LSAC website and they will be offering it on these months). I am feeling okay with my PT, Ive only taken 4 after going over the CC. But what I am worried about the lack of progress on my resume...

On top of the statement above, I havent worked after graduating due to several ( I guess, common) issues. We had to move after my December LSAT and I am applying to law firms even as an IP assistant, but it seems like my degree is close to worthless in law firms. Also, I have been trying to juggle studying for the LSAT 6+ hrs per day, taking care of our son, and looking for a house (currently renting right now). Although, I am in the process of volunteering for Women Shelter I am just worried that admission will see a flaw, even with a decent LSAT and GPA but long gap... Any ideas on how this will be perceived by admission? and what to do about it?

I will be looking for a full time job either in Law, Science, or be a full time volunteer at the shelters AFTER the LSAT

I feel like this should be really obvious... If I've narrowed my choice down to 2 schools and want to relinquish my seat at other schools I've been accepted to so that people can get off the waitlist, is there an easy way to do that? Or do people just have to wait until I put in my final seat deposit? I don't see an easy link on most admitted students websites, is that something we do through LSAC? Or should I email admissions?

Idk why I'm struggling with this but I thank everyone in advance for their help! :)

Hello everyone,

I'm Jelani and recently I scored a 151 on the February Lsat. I'm planning on taking the July Lsat but thought having a study group would be extremely helpful this time around. I currently live in Long Island but I work in Staten Island, so i'm willing to travel all over.

hey all

i graduated college in 2017. I started studying for the LSAT in July 2017 with intention to take it in September or December. Well, the LSAT is really hard and when September and December rolled around, I wasn't ready. I've been studying for the LSAT full time since around July 2017 and have made a lot of progress from my initial diagnostic score. I am planning to take the LSAT in either July or September 2018, and then hopefully send out law school apps in fall 2018.

Given that I've spent almost an entire year studying for the LSAT full time, do i or should i or how should i explain this resume gap in my law school applications?

During my period of full time studying, i've done some volunteering at my local church, but have not taken on a full-time job because i realized i needed more time for LSAT prep.

I saw TLS1776's on TopLawSchools LSAT prep sticker, and how he took of an entire year to full time prep for the LSAT, and then scored a 180.

For me, the LSAT has been taking me a lot longer to prepare (and tougher!) than initially expected, but I would rather spend 1 year of intensive full time study than drag out LSAT prep to 2 or 3 years if I had taken a 50-hour week job instead.

FYI: I've done summer analyst position internships at large Fortune 500 companies during my summers in undergrad, so I have had professional work experience. It was only after graduation that I realized I wanted to go to law school, and started studying for the LSAT.

would love anyone's advice or feedback. thanks!

Does anyone know the difference between "reserve" and "hold" waitlists? My friend and I got these two different ones. I asked the admissions office but they didn't tell me outright which one is better or worse-- they just said that they're "different."

I know that HLS is among the top 5 law schools on ratings, there is a certain image, prestige, and level of success to attend such a school. I imagine being a HLS grad opens doors to unique opportunities (e.g. jobs) and has wide range of resources for one to access.

It's really expensive, and other law schools teach basically the same stuff.

But, are there other reasons why HLS is a desired destination? Why Harvard?

Do you guys have any recommendations on standing desks i could get in law school. Extended times of sitting increases likelihood of developing cardiovascular issues. Do you have any tips on how to focus while reading and standing up?
