Looking back at my journey in studying for this pet peeve called the LSAT, I feel as though the prep course I took gypped me of my money (actually, my mom's money because she wanted to help me pay for the course)! I want a refund (too late now, of course)! Wow, I've purchased one too many LSAT study guides that have taught me completely nothing (except for the LSAT Trainer). All I have to say is, 7Sage you're a godsend! I am only on my third week of the course, but I can definitely say I feel more confident in being able to conquer the LSAT because of 7Sage. Thanks for reading! Back to the grind!

I was PTing in the 157-161 range for 2 weeks. Today, i took PT 54 and scored 167.

I am not complaining... but I am confused.

I did everything the same as I always do. Maybe it was a fluke? I will have to take a couple more PTs to see, I guess.

Is it normal to see a 10 point jump like this? Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi, guys, I am confused with the relationship between "causation" and conditional logic. Could anyone give me some help? According to the lessons, it seems that "A causes B" = A-->B. However, in PT25-S4-Q12, this rule does not seem to work. In the stimulus, "the school principle insisted that student failures are caused by bad teaching." Then, he concludes that since failing grades disappeared, the teaching had improved at the school. This is a parallel flaw question. I am wondering what is the flaw. Isn't it that bad teaching --> failure, here, /failure, therefore,/bad teaching? I also find several similar questions in the PTs. Therefore, I really need your help. Thank you so much.

I realize this is subjective, but I have the opportunity to take a week off from work in September. If I don't take this vacation time, I could cash it out when I leave next summer. So just to get a feel from you all, what would you pay assuming it wouldn't break the bank but would be a significant amount of money? Thanks!

Hi All,

I did the whole community college thing for two years before transferring to uni (hey it was 100% FREE & I racked up a bunch of free $ w/ transfer scholarships). Am I "lying" if I don't include the information on my resume? I don't think that LSAC even has room on the app portion for a college before a bachelor's. I've since removed the degree from my professional resume because it doesn't really matter since I now have a professional degree (but will always be in my heart....awwww).

Thanks

I was struggling to answer the questions within the allotted time on LC. However, I am now at a point where I am able to answer 20 of the 25. The issue is that I guess on the last five, but seem to have lost accuracy. It's not that I have gotten any worse, it's just that I thought by answering more questions that would improve my score. It has either dropped or staying the same. Is this the correct approach?

Hey, is it possible for me to purchase just one part of the syllabus? I've already studied Reading Comprehension and Logic Reasoning and I'm perfect with those sections, I just want to buy the section for the Logic games explanations (not the test explanations, which are already free), but the actual explanations on the concepts.

After studying The Trainer, as well as here at 7Sage. I realized that there really is much to grasp than what appears on the surface. Learning the fundamentals and building one's skills is vital to success. My original goal was to take the December LSAT, although I had from the start a four month prep period, I don't feel I can master these skills yet. (I need a 165+) In addition, I want to participate in an internship to add to my law school application.

My Question IS: How should I prepare to take the LSAT a year from now? I don't want to burn myself out, but at the same time not take things too slowly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also any tips to improve my resume/law school application would be great!

What kind of study regiment have you wonderful 7sagers developed for yourselves? For those that want to contribute, please be as concise in your comments so it's easily digestible for other 7sagers. Thanks!

I'll start with my regiment:

1. Meditation in the morning

2. Healthy breakfast (you can ask me in PM what I have if you're really that curious)

3. Head to my local library early

4. PT in the a.m.

5. BR in the p.m.

6. Dinner

7. Wind down, shower, and sleep.

More time

Does it make sense to delay going to law school by a whole year only on the basis of wanting more time to raise your LSAT score? I only ask because it seems as though there are a lot of things in life that we wish we could have more time to prepare for but it's not always necessarily wise to take that time off. In theory having an extra year to study would mean I would definitely get into a better law school than if I simply took the Oct or Dec test, but if my only reason is because of a single exam then I'm not so sure I'd be justified.

Advice?

Hello fellow 7sagers!

I have started preparing for the October LSAT since the end of April. I have bought into numerous kinds of books such as Kaplan, Princeton Review and Barron's. I worked on studying the strategies and the fundamentals until about June and then I did a timed PT. I scored 150 on it. I thought this wasn't too bad considering my first try. However, I figured out soon that I wasn't making the most efficient practice of the questions because I did another 2 timed PT's and my score worsened each time by about 1 point.

I enrolled in the premium package about a month ago (roughly- give or take a few days). I have been plowing through the lessons since then and I am about 90% through the 128h material. I have been following every instruction JY and his team has been putting out in the lessons. I practice about 6-7 hours a day 6 days a week. I can say that I am definitely seeing improvements because, unlike before with the other prep material, now I actually have learned the fundamental lessons and I know exactly why an answer is right and why the others are wrong. Now it is really just down to practice practice practice. With just under 2 months left, I am about to start again into timed PTs this week. I am hoping with all the knowledge I have gained through 7sage, my score will improve. I do feel however that I have wasted some of my time by practicing with the other prep material that hasn't been so useful. I am hoping that I will be prepared enough to write a score in the low to mid 160s in October. Of course, there is still December if need be to re-write. I am located in Canada, roughly near the Michigan-Canada border. My goal is to attend a U.S. law school. As far as academic credentials go, I hold B.A. in Criminology and an M.A. in Criminology (with thesis research) from the same institution, as well as two forthcoming publications in academic journals. Both degrees with 3.90+ GPAs.

I would just like to see where others are and what their situation in. This is mine at the moment and if anyone has advice out there or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!

Does anyone want to get a JD but not actually practice law/ be a lawyer? This isn't my story (I want to be a lawyer) but I am curious to learn about people who actually want a JD but don't intend to use it in the traditional sense. What the heck are you thinking?

Did any one also find Prep Test 45 easier than any other PTs?

I scored 5 points higher than my average PT score for the past two weeks.

As someone who already went through a prep course (TestMasters) but is interested in purchasing the LSAT Ultimate course package, are there some video samples of the LR explanation videos available as preview? Since I have a good grasp on the fundamentals, I don't think I will benefit as much from the lessons (maybe someone can prove me wrong though) but the video explanations sound like a great way to review LR answers. Can someone attest to the benefits of these videos?

So I took the LSAT 3 years ago and got a 147. Since a year ago, I've been half-ass studying and have been PTing at around 157-160. With intense studying for 2 months...is it possible for me to get to minimum 167 for the october exam? It seems so impossible to get to the mid-high 160s. I don't even know HOW to study and what is effective studying. I have 5 brand new PTs that I haven't touched. I really want to go to a top 14 law school. I really want to be done with this exam...and go to law school next fall. I've been delaying it since last June because I'm not scoring what I want. How do I need to study and how many hours? Is it really possible? My worst sections are LR and RC. I'm feeling so hopeless...

All groups now meeting at 7pm ET except the meeting on Weds 8/12 which will be 8pm ET. Folks with schedule restraints—please just join when you can. You won't miss much. Any serious objections, please PM me.

BR Groups, Week of August 12th: Weds (PT61), Fri (PT74), Sat (PT62)

What do we say to the LSAT when it comes a-lurkin'?

Intellectually claw it in the face.

Wednesday, August 12th at 7PM ET: PT61

Our first victim of the week.

Friday, August 14th at 7PM ET: PT74

It's gonna be awesome. Just a reminder that we'll retake this test in September.

LSATurday, August 15th at 7PM ET: PT62

I'll be at a special baseball event this evening, but many others will be ready for you to join them in the intellectual slaughter.

Note on all groups

  • For the newbies: Add me on Skype, using handle nikkers625 .
  • For the regulars: If for some reason you're not in the group conversation[s] already, just message me on Skype.
  • For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able; join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.
  • Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it."
  • These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).
  • The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via Skype and intellectually slaughter each test.

So I've been drilling logic games with the Cambridge packets and have done pretty well with the games I've drilled. Timing and accuracy were both very good. Then, a few days ago, I transitioned to timed logic games sections and I've been depressed ever since. I've been going -5,-7 on all of my timed sections and these were on sections that 7sage rated "easiest."

I've realized that the Cambridge packets actually hurt my LG ability and I'll explain why: As Pacifico mentioned in his LG guide, they key skill to scoring high on the LG section is determining the correct setup. With the Cambridge packets I already knew what type of game I was drilling and so I would just draw out my board without really reading much of the rules. I was simply a machine. Now when I take LG sections it is often difficult for me to figure out the correct setup and it's killing my confidence and score. With two months out from the October test I fear that I won't be able to conquer the logic games section before the exam. This, coupled with the fact that October is really my last hope if I want to realistically apply for the 2016 cycle, has been causing me a lot of anxiety. I'm writing this post so that I hope someone learns from my mistake. Drill full logic games sections instead of working on specific game types. I believe it's the most effective strategy.

Today I took a PT and logic games was my first section. Absolutely bombed it and couldn't recover the rest of the exam. The entire test all I was thinking about was the terrible LG section but I made sure to just push through and finish the rest of the exam since this may happen on test day and I have to learn to adapt. Haven't blind reviewed yet but I'm guessing I practiced 10 points lower than my average. It's been a really disappointing week and if anyone can provide me with some advice/encouragement I'd appreciate it greatly.

    Good luck studying everyone!

I am unable to open the videos. If it gets open then only for 3 seconds it gets buffered and later on it stop working. Have checked with different internet connections too. I think there is some technical issue from the website.

Please help to solve this issue as early as possible.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Hi, I'm kind of lost...

what do i do if I cannot visit the registrar at my undergrad to give them LSAC's "transcript request fom" with my signature on it??

I know its that simple but i'm still confused...

for example, the registrar at my undergrad allows student to request transcript either through online or through their own transcript request form that needs to be completed and returned via fax, scan and e-mail.

And yes, I can do that. BUT what do I do with the LSAC's "transcript request fom" with my signature on it...?

    please help me.

And another quick question. Which one has to be done first? paying for the CAS or sending transcripts to LSAC. Or it doesn't matter?

Thank you so much in advance..!

I personally figured it out when I was in 7th grade. A kid tried to extort my lunch money from me in my math class. I ended up writing a contract with him stating how much I would give him per day and I even had him co-sign the agreement. A day later I told him that if he tried anything like that again, I'd take the contract to the principal. Worked like a charm.

    The funnier the better.

    Hey All,

So I started the 7Sage curriculum about three months ago but left it very quickly because of some other constraints. However, I have come back to the curriculum now and am slowly going through it. There is a big difference now as compared to back then in terms of my learning. I am able to understand and apply the concepts much better than before. Upon reflection, I think one of the primary reasons why this is happening is because I am engaging with the comments of the lessons section a lot more. It truly helps when you can grasp the lesson concepts and contribute to the comments section by either answering others' questions or commenting something of use for others to view.

Another thing I saw were comments of people who were going through the lessons at the time and are now doing extremely well as per their success stories on this forum. I hope to be in the same level soon, if possible. It truly shows that hard work and time dedication during lessons does pay off at the end.

I also wanted to acknowledge and thank the many selfless commenters who have answered the questions that many users had in the past. It definitely helps students like myself who are going through the curriculum now to understand the materials thoroughly.

I promise Lindt Chocolates to everyone!

    http://classic.7sage.com/lsat_explanations/lsat-28-section-1-question-09/

For this question I chose AC (C) but I circled this question because AC (E) got my attention. During BR I did not change my answer because (C) was still the flaw in the argument. So could someone explain how AC (E) is wrong? I'm not sure if it's because it's speaking about how most people disagree with the commentators, therefore, it makes it false...so since they believe it to be false it has to be false? That why it's incorrect?

    Thoughts?

Even though I don't envision myself going into Big Law, I find this kind of writing extremely discouraging and then start to question my own sanity in this entire process.

I already bill by the minute in my current healthcare profession, and I don't want to be trapped in the same situation going forward. The whole point for me is to get out of this trap and hopefully make some changes with my legal education in hand for the wheel-spinners (i.e., providers) and those who are spinning (i.e., the patients!).
