I've been really delaying making this thread, partially in hopes that I would start hitting the scores I need to soon, and wouldn't need to basically rant.

I started studying in May, finished the core curriculum + all Cambridge packets in 2months, and July 8th I started doing Practice Tests. I've done 8 in total, I do 3 a week, M, W, and F, mainly in accordance with my local university library's schedule. I blind review the lsats the entire day after, so on Tuesdays, and Thursday, and on the weekends I take it a little easier and blind review half day on Sat and Sun. I should mention that my BR scores are never much higher, they're always around 161, which worries me as time is clearly not the problem. I generally catch my silly mistakes in BR, but reading LR I almost always just go with my original answers. :/

I never took a diagnostic as I didn't want to discourage myself by getting a low score, and also didn't want to do LG without having proper diagramming skills. If I had to guess, I would say it would be pretty low, probably 140s, but I guess I'll never know.

Unlike most of the people on 7Sage, I'm from Canada, and here all you need to get into a vast majority of the schools, even some of the best ones is an LSAT score of 160+, assuming you have a stellar GPA, which I'm happy to say I have. For my particular school of choice, a 162 on the LSAT would guarantee me a spot according to the index score used for this year, and 160 would most likely get me in off the waiting list.

Now getting to the rant part, I'm stuck in a slump. My last 5 LSAT scores have been: 159, 157, 156, 158, and today was 157. The corresponding raw scores were 74, 69, 71, 70, and 73.

According to the analytics I have the most difficulty with Flaw/Descriptive weakening questions, and Law passages (the irony :L).

LG is my strongest section, I usually go -3 and it's usually due to either not having enough time or misreading some rules. RC is weird for me, there are days like today, where I went 20/26, and others where I go 18/28. LR is another weird one, it's all over the place. Average is 66%, usually 17/25, but some days I go 20/25, and today oddly enough I went 19/25, and 15/26.

I've been reading the Trainer, and am on Chapter 10, but stopped after I started taking PTs, will get back to it asap, and try to make sure I read one chapter everyday.

So sorry for this loooooooong background story, but I need help getting out of this slump and I'm so sick of coming home and marking my LSATs only to find out I keep getting 157ish. I'm hoping maybe as long as I keep at it, I'll eventually just increase my score, but I keep thinking like no matter what I do I always end up at the same score. Like days where I rock LG and RC, I mess up LR, and other days I rock LR and mess up RC.

Is there any other material I should get, like potentially read through the Manhattan LR, or go back and review 7Sage core lessons?

By Oct I need to get 160+, and I would even be happy with literally just getting 160, but I'm worried as people say the later tests are even harder, and if I'm scoring 157 on these earlier, apparently easier tests, I don't want to know what will happen later on. Which is why I think I'm going to start jumping around, I've done PTs 39-46 so far, and I think I should do 60s next week?

Anyway, thanks for reading, and I apologize again for making this exceptionally long.

* Oh and regarding time, I generally haven't had a problem with not finishing sections on time, that being said I don't have extra but I somehow always seem to just finish before time runs out, don't get any time leftover to go back to any questions, but when I go through questions I usually pick one without the intention of having to come back.

Hey!

As I work through the LR/Reading Comp sections, there will occasionally be questions that stump me even when I get the correct answer choices.

I know LSAT Hacks provides answer explainations for the newer tests and SOME older ones. Are there any more explanations out there??

Hey guys I just just thought of something crazy, and possibly really stupid... but what the hell, I'm going to share it with you anyways! I've always thought the way JY goes through logic games by copying, pasting and erasing game boards really quickly and easily was really awesome. We obviously can't do that while doing games and erasing when you do everything with a pencil gets really messy.

During questions instead of writing down hypotheticals I end up keeping a lot of things in my head which sometimes results with me making stupid, really stupid mistakes. A few seconds ago I just thought to myself: Why don't we just write the main game board with a blue colored pen and then go through the questions with your normal pencil? I think this can give us the flexibility of jotting down new info for each question (if it's useful) with your pencil over your main game board and then quickly erasing after we are done answering. Any thoughts?

Hi all. I'm sure this has been addressed many times before, but does The Trainer use questions from Prep Tests that 7Sage doesn't?

I'm thinking about using it as a supplement, but I don't want to waste too many questions from valuable practice tests.

Other thoughts on The Trainer? Thanks.

I wanted to buy the 7sage starter course, but I don't have PTs 39 to 44 (the ones the courses use) so I will have to buy them separately. Are these PTs too old? Currently, I am following the trainer schedule and they use 52-71 which I do have. I started reading the trainer already and only took the 2007 diagnostic so far. Should I purchase 7sage starter course since they use older PTs and then pick up on the trainer since they use newer PTs? Or should I just not get the 7sage at all continue with the trainer and then If I still don't feel comfortable once I finish get 7sage? Thank you!

I started studying in February (Taking the October test, fees paid ;) I've completed all of the course material and now am working through the PTs from oldest to most recent. My average on my PTs is 163 which I'm okay with. 153 on my first diagnostic. I've taken 11 PTs now so It's a pretty solid average I believe (159 worst -166 best). My question is for those who have taken a recent test... I've heard that the tests are changing, especially the logic games with the reintroduction of maps, circles etc., Has anyone taken a recent test that can compare it to tests in the 50-60 range? I'm confident in my abilities as long as they haven't gone and introduced something crazy that my fundamentals haven't prepared me for. I'm saving the 70s tests for the last two weeks. Just trying to get some insight into what lies ahead ;) Cheers

Hi Everyone,

I keep seeing various people talk about the 'LG Bundle' and I was wondering where I could purchase it or if it's even still available.

Thanks for the help!

Wouldn't it be great if all LSAC proctors used the 7sage proctor? It would be reliable, consistent, and would reduce the rate of errors on their part. Or they could use some other type of app that isn't endorsed by any one particular LSAT company. The fact that they use manual timers (which allows for time shortages) is quite ridiculous in my view.

(It should be painfully obvious this is only wishful thinking) :p

Hi everyone, I am around 3-4 months into my preparation (finished 7sage curriculum and left with half of the trainer), my diagnostic (PT 55) was 150 and BR was 156 (I just did BR for fun with little idea about fundamentals) and I took a PT again (PT 39) sometime back, it was a heartbreaking 154 with a BR score of 167. I felt that I need timed section practise for a while before I take more PTs. Could anyone please suggest resources for the same? Does it still help to practise timed sections from PT 1-35 even though I have done some of the LR questions while finishing the curriculum and the trainer.

Is there a solid reason as to why C is not a necessary assumption?

The premises clearly say that increasing demand causes gasoline price raise. This is same as saying gasoline demand can't increase without gasoline price increase, which is C.

Just because it's a premise doesn't mean it's not a necessary assumption in case that is one of the reasons one used for elimitating this choice. I see why A is a required assumption but don't see why C is not.

I would like to take the December LSAT, but am not sure if I can perform as well as I would like. My goal is 160+ range. I do have time on my hands. I am willing to work my butt off If it can be done. If so, what resources and study plan should I follow. (Just purchased the trainer) Thank you :)

I know it takes a lot longer for LSAT than ppl think (at least a year indicated in the course) But the reality for me is I only have about 2 months between now and October test day. Wait, this is not the worst part yet actually, what's even more frightening is that I have NO fundamentals whatsoever. Completely new bee whose first language is not even English (Chinese)

Seems like I got two options here only:

1 Completely butcher the exam in October and die in shame.

2 Kill myself now before that shame comes

Which one you guys vote for?

Any advise much appreciated

Thank you

Hi all, just wanted to share a great tool that has been working well for me to organize my study tasks. I think there are some particular challenges for self-guided LSAT students regarding time management and where to focus, and perhaps some of this can be addressed with better organization. I have been using Trello to keep track of four main categories: To learn (core curriculum/fundamentals), To review (material I know I am fuzzy on or need to memorize), To practice (problem sets to drill), and then notes about what is currently tripping me up on each section. I have also organized my overall study timeline on this tool. You can add checklists to cards, and due dates for cards as well.

Works great for me - if anyone is struggling to get organized or keep track of work outside of the 7Sage syllabus, I recommend this.

Hello everyone,

I know the topic was overly discussed but i think it would be useful for starters to have a list of what, most people, believe are the best resources for each area or just in general... I know how valuable 7sage is and the Trainer also seems to be a unanimity but besides that if everyone helped to put a nice list together i think it would be a nice starting point.

Thank you all

Hello guys, this MBT question actually comes from the MBT course video. Most people have the question about the last sentence "even its critics acknowledge." I have read all the replies in order to understand why there is tremendous public support, but I still don't understand. When JY explains this sentence, he dropped a period before "for the project", I don't know whether he indicated that "for the project" is not a modifier of "would be not tremendous public support", but rather of "even its critics acknowledge". Could someone kindly explain this? The grammar here is really hard.

I have decided to go to law school after I graduate from my college. I started LSAT prep on May 22 for the October LSAT. I know it is hard to improve a lot with a short amount of time. I got 138 for the cold diagnostic test, and I am aiming for 157 October LSAT. The problem is that English is not my first language, and I am not good at reading comprehension. I took a prep test last week after studying for 6 weeks (just reviewing the materials in 7sage, not bible), and I got 150 with using about 50-55minutes per section. It was impossible to finish the test within 35 minutes per section. I am planning to take two PTs every week and review them, and I also going to read bibles. That is all I am planning to do right now. Do you guys think it is possible to get 157 on October LSAT? Is there any tips for studying Logical Reasoning section? Thank you!

Does it hurt your application if you only provide general letters of recommendation that don't mention the school specifically? I am applying to a lot of schools, because I am trying to go to law school in the same city as my fiancee who is matching with a residency program. He has to apply to a lot of different cities to ensure a match. I have a strong LSAT score and a strong gpa. I have lined up two of my letter writers, but I don't want to ask them to write a letter for each of the individual schools that I am applying to as it will be a lot. Any thoughts?

Just to provide some background, I started studying for the test in June (completed the PS LG Bible and skimmed a bit of the LR Bible), and I started 7Sage (The Starter Course) two weeks ago. I'm currently 40% of the way through the 7Sage Core Curriculum, but I'm thinking about adding in timed sections every day or full PT's every day. My question is - how soon is too soon to start doing Practice Tests? I initially planned on taking the test on October 3rd, but I might change that to December.

Since I haven't completed the course, I'm worried that starting too soon will result in the development of bad habits. I have access to all of the Practice Tests released, and I'm fairly certain that I won't be able to complete them all with BR by the time October comes. It almost seems like they're just going to waste (and part of me just wants to make use of them already haha...). I know that another alternative is supplementing the course with questions that correspond to the question types I'm covering in the curriculum, but I'm not sure what the best method would be for incorporating them. That, and I don't know of any comprehensive list that can tell me which ones are which, in terms of question types, so I can just go straight to them (If anyone has something like this, it would be greatly appreciated!!!)

I've been studying full time, and can continue to do so until the end of September, at which point I'll have to cut down some due to school. It would just be nice (and reassuring, since I feel like I've been completely winging all of this lol) to get some advice on how I should be managing my study time. I've basically just been following the 7Sage syllabus to the T for the past two weeks, but I'm wondering if there's more that I should be doing as I'm going through it.

Sorry for the long post, and thank you in advance! This website and forum have been great help!

Hey guys,

I just started PT'ing with aggressive time constraints. Here's what I've done and what I noticed.

1) 7sage app is absolute gold with this. The clock moves more quickly, so you can visually track your progress on the clock face just as you're used to doing with good ol' analog. So you still progress through 35 minutes of clock time, just in about 30 minutes or so.

2) I was surprised at how far I was from running out of time, even with 5 fewer minutes. And accuracy was 0-2 on all sections. this blew my mind a bit. I was expecting to feel VERY rushed; I didn't feel rushed at all.

3) Caveat is that this first attempt was on a retake (haven't touched since April); attempting on a freshy (PT72) today.

Anyone else want to share <30 min/sections tips?

I mean if JY and JWang blow through LR in ~20 minutes, I'm sure, with time/practice, the gap can be closed and ample time for mulling over regained (aka, returning to a toughy with fresh eyes and time to spare).

http://classic.7sage.com/lsat_explanations/lsat-22-section-4-question-12/

This was confusing! Adults in Country X consume an increasing amount of fat as they grow older, but the percentage of fat in their diet stays the same throughout adult life. Initially, I approached the answer choices thinking: "okay, this is answer going to disqualify a misconception on numbers and percentages" or something along those lines. However, I didn't find this to be the case. The answer is (B), and it says that they generally EAT MORE when they are older than they did in their earlier adult life. I can't help but think, "uh, we don't really know this, do we?" Yes, they might EAT MORE (meaning the quantity might be more), but what does that have to do with them maintaining the percentage of fat in their body? I mean it could technically have no effect, right? Help, please! :)
