Hi all, I applied to UVA Law via their binding decision as of a few days ago. I am also currently registered to sit for the February 2018 LSAT. Currently my numbers are 167/3.67 which I know is a stretch for UVA.

I am currently stuck on what to do because UVA Adcomm wants me to make a decision on whether I want them to render a decision on my current application within 15 business days of when I submitted or wait until after I receive the Feb LSAT score. Based on the December 2017 LSAT score release starting the trend of beating the score release date I would imagine the Feb LSAT score would come out last week of February. Just to paint a more clear picture, I have been averaging around a 171 on my 30 most recent PTs but I have taken the LSAT twice now and have been unable to translate it on the test (scoring a 167 twice). So I think realistically I could improve my score to a 168/169 but not very confident to get any higher than that.

What would you guys do?

  • Have UVA make a decision on my current stats by early February.
  • or

  • Wait until the February LSAT score to have the final decision made which is extremely late in the cycle.
  • Come spend an hour with me, the coordinator of 7Sage's law admissions programs, as I review applications that under (and over!) performed and discuss the best application strategies for 2025.

The class is this Friday, August 8th at 12PM ET.

As the title implies, I don't really train RC that much, I've been focusing on LR in order to get my average down to ~ -5, and hopefully -4, before August test, but I rally haven't drilled RC much, maybe 1 passage for every 40 LR questions. RC is much harder to improve on for some, and I was so tunnel visioned on trying to improve my LR, that I think my RC average of ~6.5 has only consistently gotten worse, with my worst preformance being over these past 2 days, when drilling a couple of spotlight 1 star passages I've gotten 4 or 5 wrong on each. Maybe Im just really bad at spotlight, as it is my worst passage, but I keep being shocked by the results of the passage, seeing ive gotten almost all wrong on a 1 star. Any tips?

I would prefer to use my PC to take the remote test as opposed to my tiny laptop, but my PC sometimes freezes, forcing me to shut it off and restart. This doesn't happen often, but it happens enough to make me a bit worried.

My question is how strict they are with tech issues. If my PC decides to freeze during the test, can I restart and continue like normal without deduction in time? Or do I get penalized?

    Study Groupchat!

Hi! I'm taking the August and September test and am stuck in the jump between the 160s to the 170s. I would love to make a group chat of people to help keep each other motivated and on track, talk about tough questions, or just talk LSAT in general. I feel like I'm trying to become fluent in a new language (LSAT Language) and have no one to speak it with lol. If you feel u want a group like that too, lmk!

Will there be an actual human, at least at the beginning, of my LSAT? I had an issue with the Argumentative Writing where I couldn't get my external camera to focus on my ID, but wasn't able to switch to my internal camera (which has better focus for reading IDs) because if I tried to switch the recording stopped. I wasn't worried about it though, because the writing sample is very low stakes, and they just asked me to email them a picture of the same ID I was trying to scan. But I do not want to make the same mistake on the real test day and have my score get canceled or something. Maybe I'll try holding a picture on my phone of my ID to help the camera, as some people have said that helped them get a picture; but just wondering if there's someone I will be able to converse or that will actually be watching me during the test.

Hey guys! I need some help! So, I've taken the LSAT in June and officially scored a 164, but on my PTs I averaged mid to high 160's. I have only ever broken 170 on a blind review PT (I got a 173). Other than that, I struggle to break out of the 160's. I am registered for the August LSAT; how do I break 170's by then?

I have 2 questions regarding the order of the sections on the LSAT regarding LR vs RC.

First, is an experimental LR as equally likely to occur as an experimental RC? Meaning is 3 LR, 1 RC as common as 2 LR, 2 RC?

Second, if there are two LRs and two RCs, is a certain order predominant:

    Ex: LR-RC-LR-RC or RC-LR-LR-RC

I'm asking because I'm curious if its possible to get LR-LR-RC-RC which seems especially brutal! Thanks.

    Blind Review

What is the purpose of a Blind Review? Why do they suggest that I review the right questions? Example- They circle 5/6 answers for Blind Review. I assumed I got those questions wrong. So I went against my better judgment and chose other answers that I knew intuitively were wrong. Only to get them wrong in the blind review. Am I missing something?

    Working at a law firm

    Hello all! Another question...

Recently I applied to work at a law firm for next summer as an undergraduate student. The lawyer I may be working for is a family friend (we don't know him that well anymore though). Anyways, my question is, as an undergrad, will he want me to show him an official transcript of my marks and everything? During the interview he just asked me how my grades were and I told him and he sort of just left it at that...he has to discuss it with his partner to make sure he's cool with hiring me before he gives me the green light :) I know as an actual law student they want to see your official grades but since I'm not going to be articling and basically just doing jobs there that the lawyers themselves don't have time to do (like reading through some things to figure out what's junk and what's not) do you think I may not even need to show them my official grades? I'm actually wondering because when he asked me I got nervous for some reason (it was early in the interview so I wasn't settled in yet) and I kinda blurted out that I had a couple more A+'s than I actually got in my first year lol and I didn't bother correcting myself at the risk of sounding dumb (Insert laughing emoji).

    LawHub Advantage

    Hello,

When I log in, it says that my LawHub Advantage subscription is expiring in a couple of days. Does anyone know if I need to renew it to continue using 7Sage? Thank you! :)

Can someone explain the difference--if there is one in fact--between causal and conditional relationships/statements? Seemingly, A causing B is the same as saying if you have A, then you must have B. In effect, the sufficient condition is the cause for the necessary condition; without it, the necessary condition wouldn't exist. Therefore, a conditional relationship is a valid causal relationship. There are no competing hypothesis nor potential for the cause and effect to be swapped with each other.

Not sure if the above is true. Please comment with your observations.

Would it be possible to add an option to remove the transparency effect on the "your score" number after submitting a drill?

I just noticed that you can vaguely make out your score despite the transparent effect, which is really grating, as if I can see that it's 100%, I know that all of my answers were right; if I don't see a 100%, I know that one of my answers were wrong; regardless, both options undermines the uncertainty that's supposed to help me think through the questions more carefully during blind review before checking the correct answers.

It would be really helpful if there was an option to completely hide or mask the score until we press the intentionally reveal button.

Looking for advice from folks on when they diagram a question (if you diagram at all) and when you don't. I've been studying Condr questions a lot recently and some seem impossible without writing formal logic down. However, I've also fallen into the trap of forcing formal logic into questions that don't need it, and therefore making the question harder to solve. PT117.s3.q9 is an example. What do people do about this?

    Sufficient Assumption KILLLING ME

I am struggling horribly bad with the sufficient assumption questions in the sufficient assumption module. I don't know why I can't get it at all. I don't even understand what I'm not understanding.

Does anyone have any life saving advice with sufficient assumptions? Or a video that helped them understand?

    Closing the Gap

Any advice on closing the gap from timed sections to PTs?

On timed sections, I'm regularly score between -1 & -3. However, when I take a PT, I totally bomb and score -6/7. What gives?! And how can I get my PT sections to look more like my timed practice?

Been struggling to understand Lawgic. Well into the 7Sage Curriculum and just always seem to get lost on questions where I have to map conditionals out. Anyone have any advice besides going back through the core curriculum? Ideally, I just want a worksheet (with answers to check) where I can just drill mapping conditional sentences/paragraphs out.

I'm taking the August LSAT. I am consistently PTing in the high 160s. I have made substantial improvements over my journey even though I have only been studying for around four months. This whole law school thing has been a new goal for me, I didn't consider it until last winter and I'm graduating in May. However, I want to succeed - like really succeed. I want to get into a law school, I want to prove that I can do well on this test, I want to prove to myself that I'm capable of putting my mind to something, but I can't seem to get higher than a 169. I know I'm not totally prepared for this test. I know not all the concepts are totally solid for me. But I've been successfully intuiting a lot of the harder questions. I feel like I'm fast enough at the other questions that I can give myself enough time to really handle the others. I'm a good test taker. Still, I feel like all this effort is pointless. I'm disappointed. I worry that if I retake the test later on, I'll be even less focused on studying because of college and that'll hurt my score even more. Most of the mistakes I'm making are on a select few hard questions, but it's still so demoralizing not being perfect. I don't know at this point. Any advice?

    Hi!

I am preparing for law school applications. I have successfully had three people agree to write letters of recommendation for me. However, I am unsure of a couple of things:

  • Do they receive a link to submit the letters into (or do I submit it somehow)? If they submit it, what information do I need of theirs to be able to provide LSAC?
  • Will they need to complete a different letter for each school I apply to or will 1 be satisfactory for all applications?
  • Will I be able to see via my portal when schools receive the letters? Do I need to wait until each of the letters is received to submit the rest of my application?
  • If anyone can give any guidance for this, I would appreciate it. Thank you!
