Hey 7Sagers!

I was wondering if someone who already had practice simulating test-day conditions/completing a p-test could provide some input.

If you take the test in a public place like a library, do you use headphones to listen to the proctor app? (I don't want to disturb other ppl in the library, but I also feel like wearing headphones won't be representative of the test day environment).

Any advice/comments about your own experience would be very much appreciated!

What is considered early? What is considered in the middle? And what's considered late? I used to think applying in Sept or Oct was vital, but how much of a difference is there when you apply after only 10% of the applications are in vs. 40-50%. I'm wondering because if I turned in my apps before my Nov 17 LSAT test date came out, meaning my file would be complete mid-Dec, would that still be an advantageous time to apply?

As I'm figuring out which schools to apply to and checking LSN I figured I should find out if I am considered a URM? If not, it might soften the sting of a HYS rejection :) btw.. I'm Tongan (born in America but spoke the language growing up, involved in the Tongan community in California, visit family in Tonga regularly, etc)

Hi all,

I recently jumped from doing PTs in the 40s to PTs in the 70s in preparation of the June exam. What I've noticed is that the LR sections in the 70s seem to contain a lot more 'odd-ball' argument forms. Because I've never encountered these argument forms before, it seems the only way I can get these correct is through P.O.E., and this is too unreliable for my tastes. Has anyone compiled a list of these argument forms?

I'll offer a few examples to illustrate what I'm talking about. Potential Spoilers below for PTs in the 70s

PT76 S2 Q13 - This MBT question has no inferences to be made, the correct AC is just a restatement of the stimulus. Weird!

PT76 S2 Q18 - This is a NA question in an argument-by-analogy form.. again.. really weird!

PT76 S2 Q22 - Really bizarre SA question that uses a 'tautology' argument form.

PT76 S2 Q24 - Another NA question with a weird "A-->absurd" argument form.

That's 4 really bizarre question in a single section! Am I crazy for thinking that 70s LR is really quite different from LR in the 40s?

Any help for these weird argument forms would be so dearly appreciated, lol.

Hey all! Hope all is well. I'm starting to take full tests in preparation for the June LSAT. I'm averaging 161 thus far and would like to be around 165.

Any tips?

Also, with a 2 week old baby, working a job (quit my 2nd to study more), family life, and household obligations... how do you guys find a balance?

Hey all

I've had some trouble with this LR question.

When I did this problem, I think I mistakenly diagrammed one of the premises as: Feeling of insensibility --most--> sphere of family and friendship.

Can someone explain how this is properly diagrammed?

I think @akistotle wrote a really great answer explanation. -- which helped clear things up a little bit. With respect to this "shift in domain," this is my first time seeing it ( I got tricked into diagramming this as just a most arrow btw "can feel needed" and "sphere of family and friends"). How often does this happen? What other LR questions also test this "shift in domain"? Thanks.

"Cookie Cutter Review

MSS; Lawgic, shift in the domain, pushing out an inference

(1) [Domain: All people]

Happy –> Feel Needed

(2) [Domain: Most people]

Can Feel Needed –> Sphere of Family and Friends

*(1) is applied to most people.

Can Be Happy –> Can Feel Needed –> Sphere of Family and Friends"

Hi 7Sagers!

I am going for the September LSAT, so for me it's crunch time. I am wondering how everyone gets into "the zone". I am planning on deactivating FB / instagram, removing apps from my phone, and basically anything else that poses as a distraction during my weak moments. I was just wondering what everyone else does in hopes of gleaning some positive transfer!! :)

Any and all advice welcome for focusing & staying on track.

Thanks!!

Lindsey

July exam

Is there any benefit to taking july or is it too late and might as well wait for the next one if it's the next cycle anyway?

I am new...

I am new on here. I do not know where to start and how to study effectively. I want to do well on the lsat, because I did not do well on the first test that I took last year. So, I would need all the encouragement, as possible.

I go by Bernie :)

Hello, sometimes when I try to watch a video in the CC, it won't load properly. I've tried refreshing and leaving the page, but this doesn't always work. I'm using Microsoft Edge, and I never had this issue when I went through the CC the first time. (This is my second time through). Is anyone else experiencing this issue, and does anyone have a solution?

After advice from here, I cut down the number of PTs I took and started working more on drilling and BR, but improvements have been minimal and feel tenuous. Are there any tips to BR I could try? Should I try doing more timed sections, or maybe go back and read over the curriculum sections for the questions types that I seem to be consistently missing? I've been studying for a while and I'm pressed for time, and I want to put in my all before I take the test next month. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I am finishing up the CC soon and will begin taking full PTs with BR shortly after. What is everyone's schedule for taking full PTs / BR? Do you take a full, proctored PT on one day and then fully complete BR on the next? Do you begin BR on the same day you finish a full PT? Basically, I am asking how long it takes a person to both take a full PT and do BR to the point of full understanding. I know it will be different for everyone based on skill level and mental endurance. I am asking to get a rough idea of how many practice tests I can get through in a week. I plan on taking the September 2018 LSAT and will only have 2 months and 17 days (most of which is full time study) to take full PTs / BR. Of course, I will push back my test date until November if my desired score does not follow. Thanks in advance!

This may be something obvious to a lot of people, and may be something subconsciously obvious to me, but nevertheless it’s something that today I noticed and paused to think about.

On a specific flaw question that asks you to identify an error in the reasoning (not sure if I’m allowed to discuss specific questions as a free user), I noticed that there were two sets of reasons that the author gave to support their argument. The first seemed legitimate, the second a clear error. In situations like this, do you accept the first reason as legitimate but then take issue with the second reason? I think I know that the answer is yes, but I’m still curious to hear what people have to say/think, and if people separate sets of reasonings like how I just did above. For curiosity’s sake.

Thanks.

When people mention that current LG’s have some tougher/funkier games more akin to older PT’s, which range of PT’s are they referring to (i.e. 30’s, 40’s, etc)? If there’s another thread on this, please point me in the right direction!

Thanks!!

Is anybody else having technical difficulties with printing off materials from 7Sage right now? Normally it works fine for me, but right now the documents are printing out with reddish text. I’ve tried to troubleshoot by printing some documents off other sites, and it doesn’t seem to be an issue. Any suggestions @studentservice

Hey all!

For those of you who have worked with a study buddy through 7sage or elsewhere, do you have any advice in preparation for a first meeting? What did you find to be some of the more effective plans/strategies you used? Is there anything you would do differently? As we are both aiming to take the LSAT this summer, I want to make sure we make the most of our time but am not sure where to start!

Thanks!

So I started at a 151 on the timed diagnostic LSAT, and I'm hoping to hit in the 163-167 range on the LSAT. I'm planning on taking both the July and September LSAT's (might as well right?) and I've been studying for over a month now. I feel more confident for sure -- I'm just finishing up LR and I'm missing on average about 3-5 questions per LR section now instead of starting off missing 11 questions on the diagnostic. Did anyone start like me, and what's your success story with 7Sage? Everytime I read a success story it gives me a huge confidence boost that I'm doing the right thing, and I'm sure there are a lot of other people who feel the same way. Post away! (If you want).

#help!!!

So I desperately want to get a 170+ on my test. I signed up for the June LSAT and the deadline to move it to July is coming up this Tuesday. Currently I am averaging 166.8 (to be precise) on my 5 section PTs. I am trying to take two a week and as I work full time and try to study also during the week, I think I'm burning out a bit. I am also afraid that I am burning through PTs to my own detriment (I am already up to PT 75 and I don't want to waste them, so I've been going back to the 50s a bit for the meantime. I've already done 60s-75 and I've done some of the 40s. I also have been told that doing earlier ones is a bit pointless, because they're so different from the current ones.) I feel like I need to go back and restudy the fundamentals. I just purchased the LSAT Trainer to do just that, and was thinking of going back to doing 1 PT a week again. Obviously I will also continue to study during the week as well (which includes doing a few timed sections a week, which I try to take from the earlier PTs since I feel like it doesn't matter as much for practice). Do you think it would behoove me to switch my test date to July? Or should I try to cram everything in and just study like crazy this month? Also, do you think it's even possible to ensure a 170+ by July or would it be more realistic to switch it with a September date?

Any input would be seriously helpful and thank you for your advice in advance!!!!!
