I know that Georgetown offers a two year MPP program you can apply to with an LSAT score and given my interest in public policy and concern with my current lack of impressive gap year job experience I'm wondering whether this could be a worthwhile avenue to pursue. Any thoughts are much appreciated

Hi, so I took the first practice LSAT in the course (June 2007). I found that I'm very, very good at finding the right answers, but it takes me longer than 35 minutes. I was wondering if anyone else has been having this problem? When I don't try to answer everything in 35 minutes, I get only a few wrong. It's frustrating because the explanations to each answer make total sense to me, but I missed the question because i had to start rushing through my thought process in order to fit them in 35 minutes.

J.Y. summed it up perfectly in one of the intro LR lessons - the LSAT LR stimuli are terribly written. Not in the sense that they lack deliberate meaning, but in the fact that the meaning is impossibly worded and very difficult to discern.

I've been finding myself having to re-reard some of the stimuli 3-5 times to dissect the meaning, often being hard pressed for time towards the end of each section. This sharply contrasts with RC, where the passages are far more intelligible and I finish with plenty of time to spare.

So, I wanted to see if anyone has recommendations for authors that write in the similarly shitty style of the LSAC test writers? I think that reading overly verbose, awkward prose for meaning will help my speed on LR. However just like the LSAT the writing needs to be deliberate in intention and meaning (while still maintaining an awkward and generally shitty structure).

Recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

I recently joined the ultimate+ course after using the "lawschooli Mastermind" program for about 6 months (wish I had found 7sage earlier). Although I did establish a solid foundation on all aspects of the LSAT using the Mastermind program, I still have a few significant gaps in learning. I have already signed up for the June 2018 test and can still take it if I choose. As of right now, I am not PTing in my desired score range of at least 165. Since I am not a complete beginner at the LSAT, I plan on using the September 2018 test as my new date (assuming my PT score follows).

Would it be a bad idea to take the June 2018 test, knowing that I am not PTing in my desired range, in order to get over the feeling of taking the real test? (Basically overcoming "1st test anxiety") Since my plan is to be fully prepared by September I want the September test to go as smoothly as possible. Basically my idea for taking the June test would be to see what doing the real thing feels like apart from my full PT testing practice. Should I take the June test, knowing I am not as prepared as I should be, OR wait until September when I am hopefully PTing in my desired score range? Any advice is appreciated!

Hi fellow 7sagers, I'm currently scoring low 160s and I really desperately want to get into the 170s, have been working at this for around 9 months, and I'm just worried I still won't be able to make it by June 23rd. (that's my date since I'm taking it in France) I usually don't finish the LGs on time but the ones I do -0 or max -2. LR I usually miss 3 with timing even though I get around -5 including the missed ones usually, and RC it depends, when I'm focused I almost finish and when it's difficult one is left and that really hits my score. I have all the PTs I just don't know what to do right now, maybe focusing on LGs would help the most? How do I improve my RC and LR timing?? My focus could be the main problem, it's so difficult to keep it consistently!

Also do you guys think doing 5 sections is really important to prepare for the final test or doing 4 sections is good enough and the extra adrenaline should make up for the 5th one...? I took the Dec test and didn't have too much trouble focusing, but was faaar from my goal score so I dunno.

Also anybody else taken it abroad? anything scary I should know about?

I'm torn between two law schools: Syracuse and Albany. I know for sure that I want to practice in upstate NY so I've narrowed down my list to these two contenders. I will be visiting both of them pretty soon but deposit deadlines are looming. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with these two schools or just info about the areas? So far I've heard that Albany might be the better area to live but any additional info would be appreciated!

My test is June 24th, exactly 2 months from now. I was late to the party in starting CC (because figuring out internet connectivity in my rural SE Asia location has been hard), and I'm currently 45% of the way through. Before starting the CC, I read all the PS Bible for LG. My RC score has swung around a bit, it's not as high as I'd like (I started at a -2, and then I dipped a bit, and I'm hoping to get back towards -2). LR was where I was weakest pre-CC, and I do feel like I've learned a lot from JY. My LG still isn't at that sweet, sweet -0 I'm aiming for, but idk if CC will get me there any faster than practice.

Should I quit spending time watching the CC videos and just move on to PTs and BR? Should I power through the other 50 hours I have left of it and then PT like crazy with one month to go before the test? What should be my game plan here?

It's worth noting that I'm working full time in a foreign country right now, so there's a lot of demands on my time and energy that are not LSAT related. I can't move faster than I am on studying because even giving 3-4 hours a day to the LSAT is a LOT alongside full-time teaching and community integration and long-term projects.

Also worth noting that I'm aiming to get a 173+, and I was PTing around 166-168 before I halted testing to do the CC.

Hi all!

I am retaking the LSAT on the June 11th date. When I took the LSAT for the first time in December, I had so many hiccups prior to this. I want to explain my position in hopes of receiving some brutally honest feedback to motivate me. I started studying for the LSAT in May 2017 while doing 3 courses in the summer. I self studied using PowerScore Bibles along with 4 workbooks of LSAT practice tests. If I'm honest, I think I didn't study as hard as I should of and I didn't grasp the concepts. I was just reading the Bibles and working on sections while doing some PTs. I was prepping for the September LSAT and unfortunately, I had to postpone my exam because I got caught in Hurricane Irma (I live in Miami but I go to school in Waterloo, ON). Fast forward, LSAC allowed me to pick a date and change my test for FREE. So, I selected the December exam. I was really hopeful I could crush the LSAT with all this extra time however, the pressure of a full course load (5 courses), 3 clubs that I run, and a sport really took a toll on me. The December exam fell on a date right in the middle of semester ending thus coinciding with final exams. You can only imagine my workload with final tests, exams, papers, assignments and commitments. I was studying 25-30 hours a WEEK for the LSAT on top of my school work. I would lock myself up in the library for 8 hours on the weekends and anytime I had a break in between classes I was at the library.

The day of the test I felt so confident! I was scoring around 155 on my PTs from my diagnostic of 145 despite all of my obstacles. Then, as I was sitting in the room I lost it. It hit me all at once where I was and what was happening, I felt everyone's energy and it made me panic. I left the exam room and cried as soon as I walked into my apartment. I knew I bombed it and I did. I only got a 145 on the December exam and I tried not to discourage myself. I took a break from my LSAT studies this Winter term (Jan-April) and I just bought the Premium pack. I will start studying for the June exam on May 1st (I just need a break I just finished my exams + I need to decompress a bit!). I'm NOT working for this month, I dropped my extra online course for the summer because frankly I didn't need it, and I will either take my breaks with some work outs at my Muay Thai gym or visiting a law firm for a flexible internship.

I also burned myself out with the PTs. I went through all 4 books in 4 months. I would use timed/ untimed individual sections to work on problem areas and I would also use FULL timed tests. Looking through my custom study schedule, there are no PTs for me to take until the final weeks before the June exam. Therefore, this course is requiring me to learn the fundamentals BEFORE I begin to PT. Do you advise I follow through with this plan or try to integrate some additional PT practice? Do you think a score of 160+ is attainable with no other looming stresses around me? I think my main downfall was trying to take everything on at once and not devoting my full undivided attention. I'm looking forward to all of your responses :)

  • For reference, my weak spot is LR where I typically only get 14 correct per section
  • I improved greatly on LG from scoring 8 correct on my diagnostic to scoring near perfect scores on my PTs at times
  • RC is a section I seem to fluctuate. Sometimes I can get 9-11 correct and others, I can get around 20 correct
  • I only used the free trial of 7Sage during my studies for the December exam to review LG so now that I purchased a course I hope this will help me out!

Edit: Taking the September exam. If needed, retaking in November or January.

My BR and Actual Scores are the same for the last 3 PT's! I take my PT on Saturdays and BR for about 1 hour per section...Except for Reading Comp. I don't know how to BR that section....Anyway. I've improved A LOT since I started (135 to 154) since taking the December test. I want to get to 160 but I don't know what I'm doing wrong in my BR's.

Does anyone have any solid examples of an excel sheet they put together to help track their progress other than the analytics feature that comes with our package? I can shoot someone my email if need be..

    Greetings, my new friends,

I am excited to explore 7Sage and get to know you. This Fall I will start final year of undergraduate and I want to start studying the LSAT this summer.

I work about 58 hours a week and on a given day I may have one or two 30-45 minute periods of free time that I can use to study. Does anyone have any schedule or approach suggestions that might be helpful to me this summer as I begin my LSAT journey? I am doubtful that I can find two hours a day to study at this point...

Thank you for your time and consideration,

    Trevor

    Hello Everyone,

I got a 150 LSAT Dec 2017 and a 148 LSAT June 2017. I decided to bite the bullet and apply this cycle. I submitted my applications probably a few days before the deadlines (red flag one). I thought my URM, 3.4 GPA for a top public university, 4 years of WE would help. So far, I got WL at my dream school (a top 10), accepted to a few tier two schools, and one top 100 law school (denied elsewhere, even one school I was sure I would get accepted to).

I attended the top 100 school for admitted students day and did not like it. I did not like the area, I did not like the school environment, and intuitively I felt like it was not the "one" for me.

I am truly heartbroken. I KNOW I can do so much better on the LSAT (BR was 164. Logic games is my worst section) but I want to go to law school already. However, I do not see myself at the school I did not like. If I retake and reapply, I will quit my job, study full time (something I didn't do), and apply as soon as applications open. I just dread studying AGAIN, how I will economically support myself, and waiting ANOTHER year.

Someone please help. Should I ride out the WL at the top 10 (I plan on doing that) or completely scrap everything and reapply this fall?

My house is filled to the brim with distractions, and at times I go to a local cafe to study for hours on end, but I'm debating whether it is worth it to go to a place with less distraction for more focused studying, or should I stay put at home and practice testing despite loud noises, conversations and a great deal of general noise outside? Any and all strategies are appreciated.

Can someone explain the process of fool-proofing? What resources do you use? Does is matter if I fool proof before or after going through CC? How many months (average) does is take?

    1

I have been looking at different blogs and in chat rooms as well as directly at law school admission pages and have not come to a conclusive answer to my question. In my senior year of high school I was suspended for two days for a sexually suggestive joke I made toward a faculty member.

I understand that in most people's case they would not have to send their high school transcript to law schools, however I earned college credit while in my Senior year from the local community college. I am pretty sure I will need to send them my high school transcript, so that opens the door to questions regarding disciplinary action in high school, correct? I know the general rule is to err on the side of full disclosure and it will depend on the specific wording of the Character and Fitness questions, it is just a difficult situation to explain. I was essentially just an immature Senior who didn't think twice about the joke I made until I was called into the principle's office.

    Thanks for the help!

I’m taking the June 2018 LSAT as my last shot to get off my first and second choice schools’ waitlists. I have already been accepted (and had to pay my seat deposit) at my third choice. When do I need to start applying for private student loans? I don’t have any undergraduate debt, so I’m totally lost on how this whole borrowing process works. Any advice would help.

    Expiration?

Hi guys, I haven’t been able to find the answer to this, so I’ll post it here. I’m about a year and a half away from my bachelors and I want to start LSAT Prep, but know I won’t be able to tend to it daily. Do these courses expire after a certain amount of time after purchasing?

Hey guys, so I recently decided to postpone from taking the June 2018 to June 2019. Now with all this extra time on my hands I'm trying to figure out how to pace myself. I've been studying about 2 hours/day during the week and 3 hours/day on weekends (working full time + two kids). I want to start with the CC and then once I work through it upgrade to the Ultimate package, but I'm also seeing talk of the Trainer by Mike Kim? Any advice on what rate to pace myself at as to not run out of preptests, go too slowly as to not be actively involved, and also if purchasing the Starter now and upgrading as I progress throughout the next 14 months?

Backround: my diagnostic is 157, the highest I've scored is 161, I want high 160s to low 170s (or higher obv.)

I hope you're ready or gearing up to start PTing for the June 2018 LSAT. Join us this Tuesday if you are finished with the CC.

    Provisional Schedule: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=f3n8s2l60gkgm2ju8m8kk4vhn4@group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/New_York

    Note:

For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able on your own; then join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.

Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it.” KEEP THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOURSELF. Win the argument with your reasoning.

These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).

The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via GoToMeeting and intellectually slaughter each test.

Enter any questions you wish to go over on the spreadsheet below!

    Hello all,

We will have our first SG BR session on Thursday June 14th, 7:30 PM EST of PT 39. We will be using GoToMeeting as our platform - access kindly provided by 7sage.

    Just a couple administrative things:

First, this group is open to anyone. If you are done the curriculum or almost done the curriculum, join us when you can. We welcome people in all stages of prep. The point of the group is to get your lsat nerd on with other like-minded people and make the process more fun. Expand your thinking and learning by interacting with others! For my fellow shy-people, everyone is going to be focused on their own answers/questions that I guarantee you they will not be judging you based on mispronounced words, reading-speed, etc. It's all for fun!

Second, I'm going to make it a bit of a prerequisite that people watch this wonderful webinar before we start: https://classic.7sage.com/webinar/post-core-curriculum-study-strategies/. It discusses the right mindset for approaching PT's and the wrong one. Someone once told me that wisdom is learning from other people's mistakes, not just your own. The webinars and forums are filled with stories of peoples mistakes and regrets (and what they learned from it), listen to their stories and save yourself some heartache.

Third, please don't neglect signs of burn out as it will only get worse. If you feel tired and feel as if you are making more easy mistakes than usual, it's a sign of burn-out. Take a day or two off. If that's not enough, take a week off. A week or even a month, in the long run, won't affect your chances of success on the test. If it does, then you probably weren't ready to take it officially anyway and that's fine. The test, law school, application dates, lsac, etc. aren't going anywhere. They'll be there a few months and even the year after. Read this wonderful thread https://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/3598; there are many others if you just search 'burnout'

Fourth, as a reward for getting this far here is the tentative schedule for the group, which may be subject to some changes:

    https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=keets993@gmail.com&ctz=America/Toronto

Note: Take the PT on your own under timed conditions and BR it to the best of your abilities. Before the start of each session, we will have a spreadsheet where people can enter the questions they wish to cover. If you already know the answer, please don't spoil it for anyone. Similarly, don't go "I know the answer is A but I still don't get why B is wrong?" Instead, use your reasoning to convince others and yourself :)

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as possible :)!

I wanted to gauge an unscientific poll. Let's say you graduated law school and graduated at the top of your class and you pass the bar exam at the top scorers. Let's say you had a big bankroll to support you for the rest of your life, and you still yearn to practice law regardless how much dinero you had.

I will start. I will say country lawyer for myself where I don't have the stress of living in the city and serve the same clients in a small town. Go ahead and post your opinion. There are no right or wrong answers.
