With just over two weeks until December 2, I've found that my scores have been decreasing. I'm not sure if it's anxiety, burnout, or just being crazy busy at work, but something isn't happening for me here.

I intend to take the test to see how I do, but am now becoming more open to the possibility of waiting until next cycle, retaking, and applying earlier with a higher score. It's just that I really don't want to be in my current job for much longer, and the thought of waiting another YEAR makes me so disappointed and sad. :(

Any recommendations for the final stretch?

How much weight does an application committee put on resume? My grades are above average and my LSAT is fair, but my resume is weak. How much will this negatively affect me?

Hey 7Sage fam,

I had a quick question regarding a Diversity Statement. So as a little background, I had a really hard time deciding between writing my personal statement on a specific moment that made me consider doing something other than corporate law or a more general essay about my determination to practice law and the steps that I took to get there effectively. I ultimately decided on the former.

However, a big part of the 2nd essay was that I chose my undergraduate school based on my law school aspirations (cheaper in-state school as opposed to expensive out of state). I was also able to complete my undergrad in 2 years in order to get to an education in law earlier.

With that being the case, I will only be 19 years old when I go to apply for law school this cycle. Is this a diverse enough characteristic to write a personal statement about? I know that the average age is about 7 years older and I thought this could be an interesting topic to write about. Do you think it's worth it or would it come across as opportunistic?

For those who have done many PTs: did your anxiousness and focusing more on time than the actual test get better as you did more tests?

I would assume that when one first starts PTing, he or she will likely be so eager to rush through the test by keeping time in their head while sacrificing accuracy? What are your thoughts?

Howdy folks,

Anyone studying for the December test?

These forums can be encouraging but at the same time disheartening. Supposedly only 2% of people score a 170+ but it seems like everyone on here is angry if they don't get a 174. There's stories on here of people score a 170 on their first exam... I've been studying almost full time for a little over a month, and managed to get my first 163 two weeks ago, and scored 2 more since, but haven't been able to improve AT ALL since. I changed from old tests to new tests (prep test 69 just finished) in preparation for December, but I'm not sure if I'm going to take it. I was getting ROCKED in the old lsat (early/mid 1990's) logic games, so I worked really hard on those and now I only get -4 to -6 wrong on those, but now my logic reasoning has dropped from a -3/-5 to about a -6ish. Does this seem to be the trend on the newer tests v.s. the older ones?

I have until November 18th I guess to decide if I'm going to write or wait until February. I've applied to Western and University of Toronto here up north, and then I will apply to UBC as well. I know I need a 165 at LEAST even for just Western and UBC, especially since my undergrad GPA was only a 3.48. I never thought I would apply for postgraduate school. If I can't get a 170, U of T is out of the question, and it might be anyways even if I got a 180.

Anyways, what do you guys think, is 2.5 weeks going to get me to a 170? hahah I doubt it. If I apply in February, I probably need to score even higher since it's a rolling admission and that's close to the end. Anyone have thoughts? Advice? I'm feeling drained.

I swear no matter how fast I go I cannot finish an entire RC section. I have no problem finishing LR and LG. But for some reason I can’t get through this section in 35 minutes. I usually have 5 minutes remaining with an entire passage left.

What have you guys done to speed up RC without making a bunch of silly mistakes.

Was wondering if there is a difference between a question asking for the overall conclusion of an argument vs main conclusion vs summarizes the main point ?

Iv noted that some AC summarize the MP, and some will literally restate the sentence that has the MC,

Thoughts?

'even without' does not seem to follow our group 3 indicator rules....

Ella can pass even without giving her presentation

Using Group 3 rules I came up with /pass --> give ppt

but that doesn't make any sense....what the sentence is really trying to say is not ( pass ---> ppt ) which amounts to pass and /ppt

very diff to mechanically following group 3 rules....

thinking harder about this and it doesn't matter whether it is without or even without group 3 logic doesn't hold nonetheless...

am i missing something here??

Hi everyone, so I'm about to send in my first application today (gulp), and I was wondering how people have formatted their short answer responses? This school has multiple possible prompts, so should I copy paste the question I'm answering at the top of my word doc/PDF, or should I just assume it'll be obvious which prompt I'm writing about and just upload the clean text? The short answer questions are fairly distinct.

Over my last 5 tests I have averaged a 156.6. With my high being a 160. My goal is a 167. I took the LSAT in September with a 155 and I've signed up for the December LSAT. I feel like I have been putting in a lot of hours, and without seeing the returns I feel like I should be getting. I am a splitter (hopefully). I have a GPA of 3.25. My letters of recommendation are pretty strong. I've done all the CC. Should I take the February LSAT instead? Should I sign up for an in person class? It feels like I am at the edge of breaking my score and getting where I want to be, but I've also felt like that since before the September LSAT. My huge worry is that I have not been studying for the LSAT in the most efficient way possible.

Quick question: is it OK to submit solely letters of recommendation from professors that I had during graduate school? In my case, I have one professor and one supervisor from work (I have been out of grad school for almost 4 years). I guess a follow up question could be whether I should get more professors from graduate school (I can ask another one).

Thanks!

Next Stretch

With the CC almost done and the LSAT in December, what is the best thing to work on to improve my score?

What info do you guys need from me to best answer my question?

I've been averaging I'd say 160 on PTs, around 165 as of now for BR?

Thanks

Hey, I have not been able to access my notes for a couple days now. Originally, I thought it was just my computer, but then I went to the library and tried getting in and I had the same error. It just says that part of the 7sage is down, which is weird because I'm able to access every other section on the site.

Anybody else having issues? By the way, I tried opening it in an incognito window and I also restarted my computer and the one at the Library but still had the same result

I have a meeting with my letter of rec writer tomorrow and I'm wondering what I need to bring re the insurrections on LSAC. Is there a form she needs to fill out?

Quick study break thought... I wonder ... should I ever get the chance to meet JY in person, maybe something like a 7Sage Ashram retreat (which probably operates more like a happy hour), if JY would speak to us at 1.2x. I find 1.44x quite unnatural, but also I'm quite impatient at 1.0x speed for the wisdom as well.

I am having a really hard time figuring out how my time in the military falls into my law school application process. I'm not sure if I should focus on it in my personal statement, or to write a diversity statement for it, or maybe both. I'm not sure if being in the military makes me "diverse" in the sense the schools want. Obviously the military makes me different than a lot of other applicants, but I'm just not sure how.

I also don't want to use the veteran card to heavily. I do want schools to consider me on my merits, and for whatever reason, saying I'm a vet feels like I'm using the "easy way out". I'm not sure if I can explain this better. I'm sure my fellow vets will get it.

So is a diversity statement a proper place to address my military experience?

I am having so much trouble getting more than half of In/Out game questions right. I have a moderate grasp on conditional rules and when they trigger or fail, but I’m so slow at In/Out games because I can’t set the rules up well because I get thrown off by “not both” rules. I’m taking the December 2 LSAT, so I don’t have time to pay for and go through the course on here. Any advice on how to nail this type of game?

Advice

I have been wanting to write this post for a while now.

I started studying in the End of July 2017, finished the CC and took my first PT on August 31st with a very disappointing score (152). Throughout the CC I felt very confident in my understanding of the concepts so the score threw me off a little. All of August I had fool proofed games, but a new 6min game would still take me upto 10 on fresh PT's.

September, I made the mistake of doing timed sections instead of drilling LR and RC and did not see much of an improvement. All of October I drilled LR and RC and I do feel a lot more confident looking at the questions now.

However, My timed score is still between 152-155. I BR between 165 and 172. With 3 weeks until test day, I got a 153 yesterday which is so disappointing.

I know I'm capable of scoring in the 170's. And i've been studying full time for 4 months, so this is just really frustrating. To give you some background, I had my own company for the past 2 years, we hit a roadblock in May and that's when I finally decided to take the plunge and attempt the LSAT. I'm 25 and live in India right now. Making it to this admission cycle was very important to me since I'm very unclear with where to work for the next 2 years incase I don't make it in this cycle, since i'm at a point where i'm completely switching my career.

I'm unsure of what i'm doing wrong with my prep, since while drilling I feel fairly confident. Maybe i'm just not good with testing under timed conditions? If that's the case, how do I get over my timer anxiety.

I'm sorry if this sounds like a rant, but switching careers isn't common in India and no one around me really gets the amount of stress i'm under. I would love any inputs :)

Typically I go -2 to -0 on LG, -4-5 on LR, and -2-5 on each LR. Right now my schedule looks like this:

Sunday: 1 LR & LG timed section; BR

Monday: 1 LR& RC timed section; BR

Tuesday: 1 LR & LG timed section; BR

Wednesday: Full PT; BR

Thursday: 1 LR & RC timed section; BR

Friday: 1 LR & LG timed section; BR

Saturday: Full PT; BR

I'm also a full time student with a part time job, so I probably miss one day a week, but I kinda see that as a mental day off tbh. For those of you who have made the 170 jump, do you remember when it clicked? If you had been doing anything specific?
