Hey folks,

Lately I've been meeting many other 7Sagers who are interested in pursuing a public interest legal career. This is my own area of interest, and in the course of getting prepared for school this fall I've learned a lot about the realities of this type of work and how to position yourself to do it. If I get enough interest on this thread, I'll host a webinar in a couple of weeks for any and all public interest folks.

As we do here at 7Sage, I want to both encourage everyone, and also help people consider if this is a feasible and realistic career path. With few exceptions, public interest career paths are tough, unconventional, and require flexibility and tenacity to break into.

Here are some topics we would discuss:

- What types of legal careers fall within the designation "public interest"?

- How to mitigate debt

- The importance of where you go to school

- What to focus on during school

- How to stay in public interest work for the long term

Interested?

@mes08820 as with all of our webinars, they are free and open to the public to attend!

There is a chance that we can make this video available for the public as well but at this point I would assume that you'll need to attend the live version.

Will this webinar be available to the general public or just 7sage students? I had 7sage premium for over a year, but since I took the LSAT for the last time in October, my subscription has expired. Is there any way I can listen anyway?

This would be very helpful information. Hoping that if hold webinar at a time when work intervenes, it can be preserved for later viewing like the rest of the webinar library. Thanks for doing this.

Judging by the replies to this thread, I guess you could say that... The public is interested.

Absolutely - I was planning on asking one of you Sages about this topic after I take the test! So glad you brought this up. I had a corporate attorney friend tell me that it would be a mistake to pursue public interest, as not only would I be unable to repay debt but I'd also be less employable once I came to my senses. :-( Thank you Allison for starting this thread. I'll be keeping an eye out.
