After hearing testimony after testimony on the benefits of combining both The LSAT Trainer ("Trainer") and 7Sage strategies, I finally went out and purchased the Trainer. I already purchased the the 7Sage Ultimate+ package and plan on taking the Nov 17th LSAT.

For those that have employed both programs in their study regimen, what have you found to be the most effective approach in managing these 2 methods? Would you advise reading the Trainer book in its entirety before diving into 7Sage? What have people typically used Trainer and 7Sage for? I heard that Trainer has a solid approach for RC and LR flaw questions and 7Sage for LGs and the balance of the LR question types. Do people generally agree with this?

Not sure how to juggle these two approaches in the most timely and effective manner nor what to use each for. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just want to confirm that when you do the "negation" technique for NA answer choices, you take the common sense version of negation (as in pretty much just say the opposite of what the statement says). I've noticed that, even with ACs which have conditional logic, JY will negate by the common-sense negation, rather than how we learned to negate "all" statements to "some..not" statements.

i.e. I will go to the store

Negation: I will NOT go to the store.

If I go to the store, I will buy eggs.

Negation: If I go to the store, I will NOT buy eggs.

PT example:

PT.33.3.16

https://classic.7sage.com/lesson/stewards-of-cultural-heritage-na-question/

JY negates the conditional statement in B.) by saying private support will become necessary. Rather than saying private support will sometimes not be unnecessary

I apologize if this is going to sound elementary.

I'm struggling with the following sections: Validity and MBT, Some and Most Relationships, and Invalid Argument forms.

Should I be making review-sheets for these sections?

Thanks.

Hi - I am reviewing a few videos and they pause and start, pause and start. Specifically, the videos pause for about a minute or two, then start for about 10 seconds and then pause again for another minute or two! Its so annoying! I haven't been able to watch a full video. My internet is running fine - kids on it and no problem for them. I am using chrome and cleared my cache but the videos are still pausing. Please help. I need to finish several videos today.

Hey guys! Hope you guys are having a great week :-) It's so awesome seeing all the admission posts and I've been on reddit/here now for about 2 hrs just reading through them all and feeling super motivated!

I have a pretty low UG GPA and I plan on writing an addendum for this (family illness/work). I recently took my first LSAT and scored a 159. My goal for the September exam is to hit a 165+ which I know I can do if I put in the time.

So question is- what are my chances at UGA/Emory/GA STATE? And I'm also interested in UC IRVINE/DAVIS as well. At times I feel pretty motivated and know I'll eventually end up at the school I'm meant to be at if I put in 110% effort. But then again... at times I feel super discouraged bc of my gpa.

My computer (15 in macbook pro - about 3 years old) fans every time I do certain things on the 7sage website (ie watch many videos in a row). I use google chrome.

I shut down my computer regularly, quit out of unnecessary tabs and applications (to the point that this website is the only thing open). Any suggestions? I purchased a stand for my laptop that has cooling fans, though sometimes my computer will still fan.

Hello All,

I'm planning on taking the june 2018 lsat and applying to a few Canadian law schools ( I'm not looking for the highest ranking one, any one will do ). I took a PT before 7sage- scored in the 130s/140 range. After taking the course I thought I would see a vast increase on my second PT. Not the case. Wondering if I didn't absorb the material well- or that I need to take more PT's. I understand the concepts, but having issues memorising all the methods/indicators ect. My gpa was high from undergrad 3.7 + .. but I'm concerned that a low lsat score will keep me from getting into law school even with a high gpa and good app. I'm aiming for the university of windsor.

QUESTIONS....

1- did anyone see a similar pattern ? Is it just a matter of taking more PT ?

2- should I prep for the june lsat and have applications for the schools or , should I not even bother unless I get a decent lsat score. the school I'm applying to avg score is 155.

3-Noticed the first choice I circled was right - second one was wrong- for majority of the questions. Clearly I am second guessing myself. Should I just do the questions faster ? or is a better method needed ?

Thank you in advance.

Can anyone help me with this negation?

The sentence is: “The highest point of any volcanic ash cloud will eventually exceed an altitude of 5 km”

I negated it like this: “The highest point of any volcanic ash cloud will not eventually exceed an altitude of 5km”

I ran into trouble with this question bc I negated the answer choice wrong and it should have been negated as: “It is not the case that the highest point of any volcanic ash loud will eventually exceed an altitude of 5km”

I am having trouble seeing how these two negated sentences differ. Will using the word “not” get me into trouble? I reviewed the negation lesson and “not” was a word used to negate. I thought the meaning of negation (and from what I got from the lesson) was to say the logical opposite of something. But now I am wondering if the logical opposite means the thing you're negating can sometimes happen?

My sentence is saying that no volcanic ash cloud will exceed 5km. But the recommended negated sentence seems to mean that some volcanic ash clouds will exceed and some volcanic ash clouds won’t exceed 5km. Maybe I put the word “not” in the wrong place. If my negated sentence read “The highest point of not any volcanic ash cloud will eventually exceed an altitude of 5km” would that be right? Why?

This is from PT 83, S1, Q17.

Thanks in advance, sorry if this is super confusing but I am right there with you haha

Good evening 7SAGE family,

I have been studying for the LSAT for around six months. Although I've finished all CC for reading comprehension I continue to struggle in this area. My gains have been great in LG and LR, but I have only improved minimally in RC. My scores range from 155-158 with a raw score of 16-20 on RC. This has come to me as no surprise as RC is the hardest to improve, but it's still discouraging to do so poorly. Even a small gain in the raw score of reading comprehension would be huge. I am scheduled to take the June LSAT. What advice can you give to help me with this reading stagnation?

Thank you in advance

I just started the LG portion of the CC yesterday. I am brand new to logic games. As I am advancing through the CC, should I be fool proofing the games in the CC or should I wait to fool proof these games until after I'm done with the CC?

I hope you're ready or gearing up to start PTing for the June 2018 LSAT. Join us this Tuesday if you are finished with the CC.

Provisional Schedule: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=f3n8s2l60gkgm2ju8m8kk4vhn4@group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/New_York

Note:

For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able on your own; then join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.

Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it.” KEEP THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOURSELF. Win the argument with your reasoning.

These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).

The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via GoToMeeting and intellectually slaughter each test.

Enter any questions you wish to go over on the spreadsheet below!

Edit: I've FPed the LG Bundle, but I'm considering going through it again before coming back to new LG sections. Thoughts?

Since finishing the CC I've done 7 PTs, with a 170.7 first take average and a ~175 BR average.

Section splits: -1.9 LR, -2.7 LG, -3 RC.

For LR there's no particular Qtype that's messing me up, and I think I'm getting the hang of RC now. However, LG has always been my weak point, and I just went -6 on my most recent PT (LG section rated easier).

I'm currently doing 2 PTs/week, but I want to bump it up to three while continuing to foolproof LG. My rationale is that that would give more exposure to new questions (instead of drilling old material) and experience under test day conditions.

Is there a reason I shouldn't be too impatient and instead take my time, maybe go back and drill some older LR sections? Or is it okay to go ahead with the PT number bump?

Hello,

I was recently reviewing PT2.S2.Q2. One of the answer says "The author appeals to conscience rather than reason."

Could you give me an example when the author appeals to conscience?

What are your thoughts (pro's, con's) on these two schools? Based on an earlier post, I know that Pepperdine has gone up the ranking and now outranks Loyola. Should I take this into some consideration when making my decision? I know they're not T-14, but they are both in the LA area which is where I would ultimately like to attend.

When are you guys planning to work out during law school? Morning, afternoon, evening? I was thinking of doing a 3-day a week full-body workout regimen consisting of deadlifts, squats and bench. What kind of workout plan will you guys follow?

So, it's a school I'm not really planning to enroll in but I was offered a scholarship at a local school that has a stipulation. I know obviously, non-conditional scholarships are the way to go. And if I went here, I'd probably ask them to take it off. But I was curious because as far as stipulations go, it seemed pretty generous. The only condition is that I would need to remain in the top 75% of my class. Meaning simply, not be in the bottom 25%. What do you guys think? Would you be willing to agree to that?

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted here in a very long time. I got accepted into my top choice/the school where I currently live (thank you 7 sage) and got a small scholarship offer. I'd like to try and negotiate for more money, but the problem is, I didn't apply anywhere else. I have nothing to compare my offer to. I figured if I didn't get in I'd sit out a cycle and try again. My numbers are both above the school's 75th percentiles. How should I go about asking? Should I even bother? Not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum, I'm sorry if I didn't!

Thanks!!

Hello 7sagers!

So I had planned to do the November LSAT, but now I am thinking of doing the January one. I have been studying since December. So doing the November test would actually put me right there at the advised one year mark but something tells me I might need that extra bit of time. So now I'm just wondering in terms of getting admitted, how disadvantaged I'd be to do the Jan LSAT? I'm really shooting for a 170, so if I did get that, am I right to assume I wouldnt be that disadvantaged even though I'd be applying pretty late in the cycle?

Thanks guys,

L
