I am now appreciating the way Kevin explained the whole passage.. cause it is taking me less thn 20 sec to choose a correct answer! so grateful, appreciate how in all these 4 passages he repeated himself, make low res etc. It is super helpful!!!
I'm struggling to see how Ginsburg conceding that Western technology will not be neutral is a fundamental rejection of Weiner's position. Isn't that an acknowledgement that Weiner's position holds some value? Except her concession doesn't fully align with Weiner's position, which is how the question is specifically worded. Still odd to me.
I didn't choose A because I remembered the word concede and thought that the word fundamental is too strong if Ginsburg was conceding to something. I was looking for something between A and C. In retrospect, however, I realize that Ginsburg's concession is just that technology can have an effect. It is not so much conceding to any of Weiner's central idea that western technology fundamentally undermines indigenous culture, and the rest of Ginsburg's argument just works on challenging Weiner's claim. I think that's what makes A correct.
On a side note, I thought this was supposed to be a hard passage because how Kevin introduced it, but it's only a 1 star passage?
What would most accurately describe the stance of the author? I feel like the author is more mild in their support of the Ginsberg side, since they only talk about evidence that supports it, rather than saying that Ginsberg is correct for the following reasons.
For me, I knew it was A because "one such opponent" (like Ginsburg) appears to imply Weiner is a bigot by saying he's nostalgic for the view of the "noble savage." That's an academic slap in the face if I've ever seen one
I wonder if I could have an example of a mild disapproval. I got the question correct, but I'm afraid I won't recognize a mild disapproval if I see it.
Thanks for explaining the differences in answers A and C as C was attractive to me for a little due to the concession she makes. However, your explanation that she doesn't concede on the core principle of the argument makes a lot of sense as to why A is correct.
Man, you are right that spending more time upfront saves time later on questions. I am blazing through the answers. This should have taken 31 seconds? Did it in 12 ha!

Will we be seeing higher-difficulty questions in the lessons?
